This is why I had such faith in Phil. Guys would ask me why I was so supportive of Phil and IMO he did EXACTLY what he said he was gonna do with this team! The kind of players Phil said he would bring in was clear and he did just that. Hard working, character and team oriented guys that can play in this system. Phil still has work to do but guys like RoLo are proof of Phil's vision.

if phil was so great and smart then he would have already signed tony wroten

I think he has a group that has roles and believe in each other. Adding anyone coud disrupt that. Wroten has a lot of talent, would be the second youngest knick, and certainly is intriguing. Phil may want to keep the fexibility and see what shakes out around the trade deadline. I think he fills that spot and I think Wroten would be a good guy to try out but te spt may stay open until the trading deadline.

No one is saying its a must! It's a low risk move for a talent in an area of need but we have no idea of exactly what Phil intends to do. He could be working on a deal as we speak. Wroten is just low hanging fruit.

I'd like Wroten, but I also trust that Phil and the Knicks scouting staff know a lot more than me. Maybe they've talked to him and didn't like what they heard, etc. We don't know.

One thing the past month or so - he seems to have more ups on his blocks to me. There was some talk of him having an undisclosed injury that he was recovering from in training camp. I think now he's fully recovered and we're seeing the real ROLO.

don't think he was really hurt. I think that he was really struggling trying to learn how to play in the post and it looks like it paid off. That hook shot is freakin money!

Not sure of this...I think he might have had a back issue, but I'm speculating. Frequently sits on the ground, and not the chairs...I also recall KOQ helping him to the ground a few times...holding both hands and serving as a counter-weight as Lopez was lowered to the floor.

Doesn't really matter at this point, because he is playing so well...but something was going on with him physically, IMO.

Yeah he has scored in double figures 7 out of the last 10 games. Only did it 9 times in the first 34

Are you really questioning if Phil is smart and at the same time push the Lopez is awesome stuff all over? You know who signed Lopez? Phil. You know why? He has a brain for basketball. He's not perfect and I'm sure he'll make mistakes, but I trust what he's been doing the last 18 months vs the Knicks presidents/GM's of the past. Some people talk about him as if he were the one that traded draft picks for Bargnani. He's trying to turn this around with guys who you love like Lopez. If he isn't signing Wroten, there could be a very significant reason for it. You do realize Wroten got cut by the worst team in basketball? They've improved ten fold without him.

Philly did improve. Great point. I think Freette or Toure is who we will soo see on a 10 day contract

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I think we can all finally agree that Lopez:

1. Does all the little things that doesn't show in the stat sheet, although he is finally doing things that show in the stat sheet as well.
2. He is the perfect partner to KP, taking pressure of off him and allows KP to freelance a little on defense. He is also a major contributor to KP's health by taking off that pressure.
3. He is a nice fit in the triangle with his post game really rolling and his passing ability.

As a side note, what also makes him valuable is you can keep him in at the end of games because he is an excellent free throw shooter for a big man.

Yep Rolo was the best player on the court last night--if not for Rolo we lose -15. He provided efficient force and his hook shot is becoming a weapon. Hes a completely different player than the first 20++ games and I give him a LOT of credit.

I agree.....the only problem with Rolo closing out games is his inability to guard players outside the 3 pt line. This is why Fisher uses KP instead since he has better lateral quickness. The problem is KP defensive IQ hasn't fully developed yet. But Rolo is starting to gain confidence on offense within himself and the team. Rolo might have been a a better signing than Monroe. Rolo is the perfect roll playing center you need next to gun singers like Melo and other nba star players. Monroe has more offense around him and they are still losing games. Defense is the important attribute that's needed for ground it out OT plyoff atmospheres.

Seems like he has excellent tastes too!

Give it up for this big nerdy goofball. Scoring on and off the court. Definitely a step up from Michelle Wie.

You deserve credit for acknowledging your error.

The question is, will it be a teaching moment?

Think you'll exhibit more patience in the future?

nice...

You can really see guys "getting it" and getting better all the time, doing things they didnt look comfy doing earlier in the year.

The team is really coming together. Our guard play hurts on a nightly basis but the frontcourt is to die for. No reason Rolo cant continue to improve either.

agreed. Rolo seems more confident in the post and using his hook. One area of growth is to distribute and facilitate better. they forced that a little bit earlier in the year and he struggled with that; recently they have avoided that some. Rolo should be a smart guy (Stanford) and it would be great to see him grow in that role.

Looking at splits for guys across the team, it is sort of crazy how much they've improved as they've gotten comfortable with the system and with each other.

Take a look:

I saw him at New York Comic Con dressed up as Doc Brown from Back to the Future and this girl was dressed as Marty McFly. It was pretty funny.
