Sounds like the Nets will be bidding Conley up to the max though...

Why would Conley choose the Nets if we are offering though? They have an unstable front office, poor attendance, and aren't going to be any good for the duration of his prime/contract.

Yea no way he goes to Brooklyn. Derozan might but the Nets will have to severely overpay with a max deal

LAL will def offer a max deal to DeRozen so he will go there over BK.

The team that worries me the most about Batum is Miami. They will have room to max him if they want and keep Wade, Johnson, and Whiteside if they choose too.

They do? I don't think they have room to keep Whiteside no less add Batum. Math don't add up I think

If we can add either Conley, DeRozan or Batum to the SG or PG spots next season, while keeping Melo/Porzingis/Lopez/Williams for our front line, we'll be very very good.

man I don't see DeRozan outside of highlights but I just don't think he's a Phil type of guy. Always thought of him as a ball dominant guy without the passing. Am I wrong? How's his D?

His shooting from distance seems atrocious.

He is a ball dominant player but he does a few things we really need. He can get to the rim and he can get to the foul line.

He's a legit talent who would take scoring pressure/load off both Melo/KP. Is he ideal in our system -- probably not but if we can't get Conley/Batum/Horford --- DeRozan is probably next best target unless we are going discount shopping with a Bazemore/others.

You make some good points. If Melo continues to gravitate towards being a ball mover then Derozens scoring ability could do wonders. He also up his ast to like 4+ a game I believe. But the problem is that he is a player that will command all the cap. So the question is it be worth it to tie all the cap to one player like Derozen?

I think a guard like OJ Mayo will come dirt cheap and thrive in the Tri.

I'm a fan of Batum. My question is, how much of an upgrade is he over Afflalo? Huge upgrade or marginal upgrade?

I would ideally keep both in the case of Batum.

But to me Conley is the far more important guy to get.

I just think a lineup of

Conley
Afflalo
Melo
KP year 2
Rolo

could be an ECF team.

Isn't it nice that the Knicks are finally the stable franchise in this equation?

Conley is putting on a show in his first game back right now against the Pelicans with 15pts and 10 ast.

I agree. Either one would be great but Conley would have to be the first priority with his ability to upgrade a position so much more than Batum could for us. We should be an eastern conf contender with that lineup.

I simply don't understand how little importance some around here give to our PG position. We need to go all out on Conley or Rondo. Our Number one priority......
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

He played well. Also Jrue Holiday played well as well. If we had a a shot to acquire Jrue Holiday for nothing or Mike Conley, which one would everyone prefer?

Only problem with Holiday is he is always hurt, but i have always liked him otherwise. I was hoping the knicks drafted him in 2009 if Curry didn't fall to us. But injuries have really held him back after being an all-star.

Yeah that is the only thing with Holiday but this year he is staying healthy.

That would be no one cause everyone understands that the Knicks need to upgrade the PG spot. It's just how and when.

Conley would be a great upgrade but personally I would be prepared to be more patient, wait a year and go for Westbrook instead.

Westbrook wouldn't come to play in the Triangle. He's much much more likely to go to a team that runs and guns or go to the Lakers, since he's from there.

Lopez/Porzingis/Anthony/Grant/Conley would be very nice IF Grant can improve his 3 point shot this summer. He has to do plenty of reps. I think a Conley/Grant backcourt would be very good on both ends if Grant improves his 3 point shot. Galloway is another option at 2, but he strikes me as a real good 3rd guard to have vs a starter. If we can keep Afflalo, Calderon, Grant, Galloway AND bring in someone like Conley, it would a long way for us. Would feel confident against any team in the league.

For me that's equivalent to saying Jordan or Kobe or Melo wouldn't fit into the Triangle. IMHO Westbrook will stay or go to a team that is destined to win.
