as much as we love frank, he is not Eric Snow just yet. Frank is a back up until he shows he is ready for prime time.

i don't think Frank needs to be included now that they have Snow...a KT/Deke/Othella package might be enough to get Z imho.

of course, if you could also get Battie & Diop for KT alone, i'd do that deal too.

Cavs gave up nothing though, so you can't really gauge how much they wanted a PG.

Ollie was a huge mistake from last year, Paxson redeemed himself in my opinion from the whole Boozer fiasco at least somewhat by getting a great, veteran PG who's been to the Finals, been in pressure situations, and won games. Those are the type of veterans they need.

That's why I don't think they'd want Frank badly. True, he might have more potential, but who cares about how Frank turns out in the Cavs mind, it's all about LeBron. Better to put him in an environment with winners and guys he can learn from, players like Snow.

And I doubt they'd give up Ilgauskas now that Boozer was gone. True, they get back KT, but he isn't 7'3". Ilgauskas is a rare player in the NBA, esp. in the East.

i'm only basing all this on the rumor that the Cavs approached the Knicks about that deal...who knows if that was true or not...probably just another unfounded rumor, but it's at least worth investigating.

despite him totally torching us I'm not that high on Big Z either. Between injuries and just not being a high energy player I dont love him, but the expiring deal is certainly attractive. I just dont see Cle moving him for a KT/Nazr/Frank combo, but you never know. I would rather just move KT for Battie and Diop. Battie is an excellent defender at the 5 and Diop still has nice upside. KT could move into the starting 4 role for Cle and the dont give up a starter. KT's midranger jumper would fit nicely w/ Z's post game and Lebron's play making.

Then you can include Deke in the Crawford deal and your 04-05 Knicks look like this:
Marbury/Mooch
Houston/Crawford
TT/Penny
Sweetney/Jerome
Battie/Diop/Nazr

Thats some bench....
younger, more athletic and much more energy.
