I think the culture he has built has been nothing sort of amazing. Virtually everyone on the team is a high energy high character guy. I was a little skeptical, but 9MM for two point guards is fairly reasonable. This team becoming a real contender is really going to depend on Grant becoming a 14pt and 7assist point guard. We need a little more scoring bunch and we can compete with just about anyone because of the blue collar defensive attitude. Very much like the Bulls a few years back, but Affalo, KP, Melo can all score. DWIll is finally in his perfect spot and I like Grant, Dwill, KP, Thomas in high tempo.

Grant just needs to keep attacking and spend a lot of time working on his jumper, which by all accounts he is doing. It's a breath of fresh air not to have average players who think they are superstars and guys that are just out there to compete!

He doesn't have great three point range, but his mid-range game in college was great. We saw a little bit of that last night - if he can hit that little pullup he hit last night a few times consistently, it will give him the ability to drive at will.

I think my favorite half court offense play from him last night was actually a play where he drove the lane and dropped a perfect short bounce pass to Afflalo for a quick turn around J in the post.

But it's ok that you were skeptical. Even the people on here that like to look at the positives in everything that Phil or Fisher or anything Knicks had to of been somewhat skeptical of certain things that Fisher was doing or players that Phil was bringing in or whatever else Knicks and i know this cause i'm one of those that likes to look at the positives and even i was somewhat skeptical about certain things even though i wasn't saying it on here. When Phil signed DW and a lot of people didn't like the move but i was on here saying it was a good move but in the back of my mind i was definitely thinking that that move could backfire and there's other things that were done that i was positive about on here but again in the back of my mind i was somewhat worried. So just cause you were skeptical in the beginning doesn't mean you were wrong for that.

THE KNICKS ARE BACK AND THE FUTURE IS LOOKING BRIGHT FOR OUR NEW YORK KNICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to read balanced views on Grants big game. He still needs alot of work on his J and handle but he showed that he offers some abilities that we lack at the position namely a drive/dish game and D. I think Fischer has done a good job not rushing him into the fracas before he's ready. I like that the kid talked several times about feeling more comfortable and confident and that he felt it from coach and teammates alike. Hopefully that sense will lead to improvement and more minutes. Calderon has his $7 plus coming and I dont see him being threatened at all by Grant or Galloway. The latter is also young and rather average so he may feel threatened but think guys like Calderon and Sasha are vets who know they are at tail end of careers and will gladly be mentors while here.

In the 4th when Calderon and Grant were in the backcourt, Calderon kept pointing to Grant to receive the inbounds pass and bring the ball up. Calderon still running the offense great and I think he's having a positive impact on Grant, too.

Yeah let's be clear. This is a total team effort and this team is united. The vets are helping the young guys. They believe in each other. Defend each other!

That's the theme of the season. Guys got each others back. You hate to break this group up. We have to be careful how we build going forward. We need to bring in like minded guys.

Good point. Phil needs to be careful (which i'm sure he will) with the players he adds to this group. I'm not gonna start naming names but we need guys like J.Noah and P.Gasol added to this group or in place of a Seraphin or whatever. Those are guys that are all about their teams and teammates. You put J.Noah in place of Seraphin and that would be a huge difference.

AGREE.....we need another guard as well. A combo guard that can come in and push the pace when it is too slow or when starters are not producing. Counting on Calderon and Grant is not very smart. We need a 6'6" guard like Schved; preferably one who can defend.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Yes last night grant did what he did best in college get the ball to the right guy for the score. His three ball will come with time... His mid range is great, his defense on IT last night was super.. His defense alone should get him more pt . Jose was getting killed by Thomas till grant took over.

Grant was an absolute baller at ND. He led last year's best offense. His genes lend themselves well to the NBA. There is a lot of reason to not write him off. He was great to start the year... now there's tape on him... now he has to adjust and improve. I like his chances more than THJ so whatevs

Is it me or was that a dumb play by Grant at the end of the game, throwing the long pass to DWill? Let them foul you and hit the free throws! He is a good foul shooter. Why take a chance on such a risky pass?

Just you. Grant has the ball with about 6 seconds left; a 4-point lead and the Celtics are out of time outs.

Even if intercepted, would take more than 6 seconds for the pass to land and to be advanced up the floor to score a 3. Seconds were as valuable as points in that moment.

If the ball was overthrown, the celtics would have gotten the ball under their own basket. Hit a quick 3, intercept the inbounds pass or 5 sec call and they have a chance to win the game. Win the game in the nickoftime

Jerian is a talented guy and he can make all the passes. His only issue is his confidence and understanding of this system. Jerian made that pass on instinct cuz he's always looking down court for a streaking teammate to pass to. He's got the best court vision on the team and when he finally figures out the offense his natural talent will take over.

It was a risky play and could even be seen as running up the score a little... but the Celtics played a chippy game and were talking trash the whole time. I had no problem with wanting to rub it in a bit.

If you had a problem with that one - what about when the Knicks were up 1 with 1:57 to go and Grant made the exact same pass to DWill? That almost gave me a heart attack.

A pro ball player correctly judging the length of the floor is not that much to ask.

Oakley used to fire floor length passes from the baseline all the time and hardly ever overshot his target

Just not that high-risk.

I don't think this is right. They get the ball under our basket

More time than was left on the clock.

Teams foul to stop the clock.

They trade FTs for seconds, because the latter is more valuable.

I probably would agree is it was not such a dangerous pass.

We don't agree it was a dangerous pass. Throwing a ball 70-75 away is not a big deal.
