Out muscled by who?? Other point guards?? He's got size for a point guard so i don't see him getting out muscled really. His problem is his offensive game. I remember him being good at getting to the basket but bad at finishing and putting the ball in the basket.

Yeah he's not a great offensive player but adding his defense will mean more to us than adding just a scorer would. I think it would add more versatility to the lineups you can play. It can be a tough call but since this team is really showing some serious defensive ability, it would be great to be able to add another solid defensive player at guard. We could put some KILLER defensive lineups on the floor.

I agree. As currently constituted, the biggest problems with the Knicks are the inability to stop opposing PGs and and speed up the tempo/penetrating the paint to collapse the defense. Murry is good at both of these things. If he is now a confident offensive player, he is even a greater asset

Yeah. He also seems like he's gonna run the offense and he's not looking to be a "Superstar" or play "hero ball". He's capable of doing everything but he's a more humble player. With a team like this that could make him a much better fit. We know he has some familiarity with being in NY too.

You can watch the entire game here:

Yeah that's a good way to put. He doesn't care about his stats he just cares about doing what he's asked which was for defense, when he was last here so lets see what kind of offensive game he can bring.

green is close to 6-4 but he can also penetrate dish and has a nice outside shot. What's the big difference between grant and murry!

Yep. Obviously Phil knows what he wants for this team and it's been working pretty good so far or at least it looks like it's starting to come together. I like Green he actually just had a huge game against Westchester but it looks like they don't want what he brings right now.

Here's the article and lets remember that they were only seen at his games it doesn't mean we're signing him.

Phil's plan is pretty clear. Long arms, athletic players.

Lopez - long arms, high motor.
Porzingis - long arms, good motor, very athletic for a 7'3.
Williams - very athletic, 7'1 wingspan
Thomas - athletic, looks like he has a long wingspan
Galloway - long arms, pretty athletic
Grant - long arms, athletic
O'Quinn - very long arms, good motor

That's 7 of our top 10 guys, most of which have been brought in the Phil Jackson era. If you look at it, it's mainly guys with either a high motor and/or athletic, with a very good wingspan for their position. It's very similar to what Gaines and he did to put together those Bulls teams When Phil was with the Lakers he also encouraged them to get guys like that - and had a high opinion of players like Bynum, Odom, Gasol, Ariza etc. because of their combination of athleticism/long arms.

So no surprise we scout guys like this. I think Phil/Gaines want players with a good motor, athletic and long arms. You see how with players like Galloway, Thomas and even Grant now, it helps even when you're looking at the lower level NBA players.

The downside of this team is offensive futility from the guard position. To me Greene who is long for a pg fits the bill for this particular team

Oh no does this mean if they do sign Murray that every time he makes a mistake that we're gonna see a thread/post about how they should of done what you said and signed Green instead of Murray?? Please don't do it to us. lol

Langston Galloway is 6'2" and plays like he's 6'5". Toure is 6'5" and plays like he's 6'2".

I'm not interested in Toure. If we get him fine but I'm over him at this point

Knicks will need to spend that capspace money this summer on getting that sort of guard. I'm not looking towards anything before then. I'm sure some talk will arise around trade deadline, but our rotation is pretty set. I can see some moves happen, but Phil built this team with the long run in mind. Why should he negate the strength which is our front court depth, size and talent (even tough KOQ/Seraphin are out of the rotation, come injuries or in games against weaker opponents they will be needed) to get a guard that may not even work out in the offense.

I know we're close to being a playoff team, but I'd like to have capspace in the summer to keep adding. What I'm concerned about is what the situation will be with relevance to Thomas and Galloway - and capspace. Can we keep them and spend 20 million or so in cap? Do Thomas and Galloway have cap holds next season for us?

I think Phil and his staff have changed their view on this year. KP has made things happen MUCH faster. Not that they'd blow cap space but if they feel they can upgrade the roster they're gonna do it!!! He hasn't left a spot open for nothing. It's only a matter of time IMO. Besides handing out 10 days isn't going to ruin the future. Phil will retain his flexibility for a future deal. SO far they've played this just right.

I think the team being competitive has only cemented that they should stick with the group they have and make a move in the summer. Because continuity is everything in the Triangle. Now that Fish has ironed out his 9 man rotation, I could see Phil open to dealing O'Quinn/Seraphin in deals at deadline. It makes sense, and if there's a guard he really likes or thinks will fit in, they'll do it IMO. However, I don't see anything more than that. If you look around the league, any decent player in the backcourt is making a ton of money. I can't see us making a deal with just O'Quinn/Seraphin. I personally don't see a trade on the horizon. I definitely agree that we're 1 very good backcourt player away from being a contender, but that player won't be easy to attain, especially since our best assets won't be available via trade for that sort of player (Porzingis, Melo).

Moving Seraphin makes sense. He bet on himself and signed a one year deal reportedly for less money to get a better deal next year. If he could be sent somewhere where he could get more playing time and the Knicks got something back, even some second rounders and brought up Bachynski, it might benefit all involved. Seraphin does seem to be a really good teammate. Not sure how much moving him would disrupt things.

Size does not mean strength. Of that was the case D.Williams would be an awesome defender at the 4. Is it possible that Murray has gotten stronger sure but he had work to do two years ago.

Have no memory of Murray since he was last here. Unless he took a Lance Thomas type leap in his game, Id rather look for unmined talent elsewhere.

Well he certainly looks 100% more confident in his jumper. He clearly worked on that part of his game. IMO adding him is about bolstering the Defense more than anything. We would have the ability to put some really tough defensive lineups together. I'm not expecting any superstars to come in on 10 day contracts. Just want to improve the team incrementally. There are some decent options out there. Most will have some flaws in one area or another.

One other thing regarding Murry. His primary suitors, the Knicks and the Jazz, are teams that had him on their roster before.

The F'n point is that we will have to choose which strength is more important since most lower tier players tend to give you more strength on one side of the ball. Do we go for a strong defender or scorer?
