Who on the roster do you think gets you a late first rounder?

No pick? its gone. OP needs to get over it. Toronto gets it. It could the no. 1 pick or the 30th. EIther way its gone. Its like an ex girlfriend. She might be with a some stud millionaire who satisfies here in everyway possible that you couldn't and laughing at all the way to multiple orgasms on a private island or homeless with bad STD, either way she is gone.

The pick is gone. WE not getting simmons. He is going to philly, Portland or Lakers. We are a better team than them.
IF Rainman wants to obsess over the negative after a nice win have at it. SOme posters would rather be right than the team succeed.

Right, but there are only 14 guys, and do you even want to give up Galloway or Grant? The most logical comps.

Seraphin or Amundson aren't happening. I doubt Early is.

O'Quinn or Williams?

Heck...if an ex left on bad terms (She being the bad one, of course) I'd sure as hell want to see her homeless with the STDs rather than being screwed and sexually satisfied by the wealthy stud.

Not impossible that a team which doesn't want the financial and roster slot burden of a number one pick decides to sell the pick for some extra cash and cap space.

Most likely a very late #1, but it could still happen.

I think Seraphin could happen. It might be a second rounder or a very late first. I think it would make sense for Seraphin as his contract is up and he was hoping to prove with his play that he should get paid more.

We can afford to rid ourselves of Seraphin, Sasha, and Calderon. Those three can go

No doubt we can make a trade for a pick like that, a contender would do it for Jose if they lost a key back up PG and felt he could make an impact. Jose is that kind of player, but there has to be a need.

As for selling picks, There used to be a $3mm limit to the cash compensation and in this CBA rookie contracts being so low really do help a teams cap out, and thus have become very valuable financial tools.

When you are talking about the lower 1st round and second round, it's a crap shoot. I think Phil is doing a great job building up the d league where he can stash guys to call up. Galloway was one. We have like 4 guys in westchester that can get called up. Plus we have expendable contacts to pump and dump if need be to pick up guys. We have two euro stash guys on Gomez and that french kid.

We're in a great space. No need to hope for miracles. Phil is doing a fantastic job.

Batum is a SG/SF type who shoots from distance, rebounds (6.5 rpg) and passes (5.2 apg) the ball. I'm not really good with looking up advanced stats but he seems like the perfect long term SG would like in the Triangle. Just turned 27, so lots of legs left in him.

Willy also comes over next year.

I am resigned to having Jose/Grant for PG next year, hopefully Grant will be starting next year some time.

Westbrook in 2017.

2017 Championship run year.

Batum is the perfect long term SG for this team.

i think so, too. martin has been saying this for a while now. i think batum fits exactly what we're trying to do both offensively and defensively. it's also true that he's not going to be cheap and there's going to be a lot of teams after (namely the spurs i would guarantee it) so we'd probably have to really pony up the $$$. i think he's worth it though, you add him, solidfy the 2/3 spot and then hope to make a big splash the following offseason as well. we could legitimately have a lineup of: r.westbrook/batum/melo/kp/rolo in 2 years. THAT would be something.

I've also been asking for Batum to be our big free agent addition next year and the good thing about Batum is that he can also play the small forward spot for when we go small ball and slide KP to the 5 and Melo to the 4 spot.
So if we don't make any other significant additions besides Batum then we would have two really good lineups we could put on the floor depending on who we're playing.
PG--J.Calderon
SG--N.Batum
SF--Melo
PF--K.Porzingis
C--R.Lopez
6th man--A.Afflalo

Small Ball
PG--J.Calderon
SG--A.Afflao
SF--N.Batum
PF--Melo
C--K.Porzingis
6th man--D.Williams

Yeah i hate being without a 1st round pick as well. I think that right now some don't really think it's all that big a deal but i guarantee you that when they're watching the draft they'll be hating us not having a 1st round pick. I will not count Phil out from not finding a way to get one though. Nobody and i mean nobody was expecting that T.Hardaway trade for the pick that got us J.Grant. I remember when it happened i was on the phone with a buddy and i heard it announced and immediately hung up on my buddy and was happy as hellz. You never know what will happen during the draft and what reason another team has to trade their 1st rounder whether it be cause they don't wanna give out a guaranteed contract or whatever the reason but i'm sure Phil will be working the phones trying to get a pick if there's someone sitting there in the mid to late part of the draft that he wants.

WORLD of difference between the 19th and 29th picks.

"late first round" is too broad a term.

I just wonder why this thread hasn't deteriorated into a Melo/CAA-destroyed-Bargs-career rant by now.
