He is an idiot, but why is Philly letting him go out like this, drink, no security, no team rules, no accountability during the season? Even guys on my college basketball team were smart enough not to put themselves in this position during the season, and we have less at our disposal for protection. If you are going to drink, drink with your boys or teammates at your/their house, invite over some girls and keep it lowkey. If you want to go out in public to a bar or club, make sure you go someplace with VIP and have security at least escort you in and out and if someone starts talking ****, they can take care of it. These are simple things. Okafor going out to the club like a regular 19 year old isn't going to work for him. Too many people going to try and bait him. On top it seems he's insecure and has a temper, so he should know what will happen. You don't need to have self-control, you just need to not put yourself in that situation.

Some guys just need their butt kicked. The way I see it is Okafor was goaded by a heckler who took up stalking.

He was intoxicated, he is clearly angry on the inside which allowed the hecklers and alcohal to release his anger. Do t want to put to much judgement on the actions of a drunk teen. He may need counseling though on how to deal with the anger he has inside and better ways to deal with it then alcohal.

I'm willing to bet this all started with a bunch of guys following Okafor and yelling "you suck"...You talk slick to someone, regardless of how much money they have or make, be prepared to get stomped. Its that simple.

He is young...He will quickly realize that he will no longer receive any sort of respect from "common folk" because he plays professional sports. He will now be held at a much higher standard by the simpletons of the world. Its unfair but thats how it is.

I'm sure he will learn from this and hope our own young rookie is never put in a situation like this.

Our young rookie? He was treated to far worst, man, than a few randos on the street saying "you suck":

You're being purposely ignorant of the circumstances behind OK4's situation verses KP who is not in any way in the same situation. The record losing that Philly has been going thru on top of being drunk and having some idiots following you with taunts is NOTHING like what KP has had to deal with. This isn't to excuse OK4 for his mistakes, but you can't be taken seriously if you can't see the difference!

Too many incidents for the Sixers to have not suspended him already.

This is one of the reasons I took early retirement as a NYC teacher a few years ago.

I was also the head disciplinary Dean in the school for over 5 years and it was easy to see where things were going. The person I answered to did everything to put the students word above those of the teachers and to minimize punishment for statistical reasons, and it got to the point that if you used humor and it could be interpreted the wrong way by a kid the teacher might face discipline. Kids are gaming a system that no longer holds them accountable. This goes for schoolwork and behavior in the school. Many teachers are fearful of giving kids the grades they deserve because it will look bad for the teacher.

This is the kind of atmosphere OK4 will have come from, and as a star athlete, OK4 would also benefit from the special privileges they usually get, too.

Self-discipline and self-criticism are gone- only things that matter are a kid's self-esteem and making him/her think that anything they do is special, even if it is mediocre.

I expect that OK4's father has probably been a negative influence on him, too. Clearly the kid has little self-discipline. Maybe he wasn't listening when somebody told him the "sticks and stones" advice for dealing with verbal abuse.

I don't want to hear that he is only 19. If this is an excuse for younger players then they should not be getting all the money they are being given or be allowed in the league in the first place. These guys are playing against adults in an adult league. Maybe 21 should be the minimum age for players coming into the league.

People's lives are actually affected by this type of crap, and people might be fired because of what has happened. Of course OK4 has nothing to worry about. 3rd pick in the draft...millionaire...future of the franchise...Stars and future stars will always be treated differently, and OK4 can use the "kid-card" to escape full responsibility for his actions. Christian Wood would have been released if he had been the main culprit, no doubt about that.

Maybe there should be probational contracts for players until they reach 21, with them getting mostly non-guaranteed money. Maybe this teaches them to be responsible adults because they might lose some $$.

Where is my good friendholfresh, now...a poster who more than once made fun of Phil looking at a player's character and background when considering drafting him.

Wonder if they end up finding some stuff in OK4's past that gives us an idea of why he is acting as he is.

The Sixers' brass really has to be held accountable too if they had knowledge of the type of things he's been doing, because they've clearly dropped the ball with OK4 so far.

Will be interesting to see what the consequences are.

None of us were there for the entire event that night with OK4. We don't know all the facts, but i'm pretty sure that all that losing factored into his mindset as well as being a bit drunk. It's more different when you are pretty much one on one with someone verses a crowd where you can't even see their faces.

Thank you WaltLongmire! Only guy talking sense on the OK4 issue.

19 years old don't excuse shyt! I'm sure the majority of you Knicks posters weren't out at 2AM assaulting people because they called you a name. SO WHAT that he was drunk! When I drink I laugh my phucking ass off and have a good time. Before I got married if I went clubbin and got my drink on I tried to chase some female tail, like any hot blooded male dude would. Not commit first degree aggravated assault. They say alcohol reveals your true self...if you're angry drunk, you have deep seated anger and rage issues. If you like to laugh and dance, you're a generally happy person. If you get quiet, reserved, and depressed you better get some professional help ASAP.

You guys need to step back and take this for what it is. Dude is a spoiled entitled immature punk bitch. Hope he serves time and gets some suspension thrown his way. Only way to learn his lesson.

Apparently the assault by OK4 wasn't over the heckling or "You Suck" taunts. It was because some women rejected him from the knockout dude's crew:

http://www.tmz.com/2015/12/02/jahlil-okafor-fight-2nd-victim-threatens-lawsuit-im-hurt-and-embarrassed/

The man who was KO'd in the 2nd Jahlil Okafor street fight claims it was the NBA star who knocked him out ... and now he's threatening to fight back in a HUGE lawsuit.
The man behind the allegations does not want to reveal his I.D. -- but his attorney, Michelle Newton, tells TMZ Sports he's a 27-year-old executive assistant who lives in Boston.
We know the man was knocked out cold during the melee at Storyville nightclub last week -- but it was unclear from the footage if Okafor was his assailant.
But the victim's attorney tells TMZ Sports they're POSITIVE it was Okafor -- and he needed 10 stitches to close the gash on his eye after Jahlil knocked him out.

Newton says a lawsuit is now on table -- though they have NOT filed any paperwork yet.
"We're always interested in resolving any matter prior to ligation," Newton tells us .... "Should we be unable to reach an agreement [with Jahlil], civil litigation is the only available option."
Translation -- settle or we'll see you in court.
There's more ... Newton says her client has experienced pain and embarrassment as a result of the fight.
He's also pissed over allegations he heckled Jahlil about the 76ers before the fight -- claiming it's simply not true. He says the whole thing started when Okafor was rejected by women in the victim's crew.

Spoiled immature entitled punk pus$y bitch.

I read somewhere that was the cause of the 1st street fight as well. Who knows what the truth really is, but you can envision a drunk, arrogant Okafor approaching a group of girls with no regards for the guys they are with, and when one of the guys begins defending the girls, and the girls turn him down, he becomes embarrassed and the situation escalates. He is constantly heard screaming how much money he makes, and how broke the other guys are, so you know it is likely an insecurity of getting turned down (especially since known athletes aren't used to getting turned down by regular girls) set him off. Dude is just a mess.

What a nice fit KP would be next to Noel lol. And possibly Embiid in the future. But that's Hinkie for you. Character flaws, injury concerns, and fit don't matter, just talent.

DUDE, We were THIS close to landing this headcase.

This fight occurred in small ass friggin' Boston of all places. He did 108MPH on that short ass bridge in Philly. If Philly or LA drafted Porzingis like they were supposed to, we'd be hearing how OK4 is the new JR partying in Greenhouse, snorting lines in the bathroom with chicks, and doing 120MPH on the Westside Highway getting pulled over, starting with bouncers outside 1OAK...

OK4 would've been THE National sports story. Outside the Lines: From Duke to Prison, the story of Jahlil Okafor.

I'm phucking soooo relieved.

None of what you just wrote explains how what KP experienced on draft night was worse than the things OK4 has been dealing with in Philly and what happened that night. I don't have to try and defend OK4. What he did was wrong. I can explain some of the things that he's dealing with and his support system is nothing like what KP has. OK4 should have someone responsible with him at all times but he clearly doesn't. KP is shielded from this kind of thing and also he didn't grow up in the U.S. so his mental outlook is much different.

If you grow up in a rough environment you learn the wrong way to deal with such confrontations. I'm pretty sure KP would not have the same experiences on the streets of Latvia or Spain. The main thing tho is that OK4 should've been watched much more closely by someone responsible.

Where is Silver in all this? He obviously has seen the tapes. kid should be immediately suspended and fined for conduct detrimental to league for reacting in that fashion. Inexusable for him to chase and attack clowns regardless of taunts, Okafour sounded like just another pampered uneducated athlete who was taught little outside the lines by his enablers. Listening to him, makes me wonder how much Duke bends their admission standards to win BB games and how Coach K and NBA didnt do such a great job preparing him for celebrity life
Yikes! 2nd Video emerges from Jahlil Okafor Street Fight. Fought 2 guys, 1 guy bleeding from the head from Okafor Haymaker.
