His personality and confidence was there from the get go. I like towns, but kp is rare breed, I have never seen a 7 footer that smooth. I just think he flew under the radar a little bit, and GM's and presidents have seen too many stiff euros (milic) to take a gamble.

I would like to have him spend a summer with hakeem.

one summer with hakeem, next with Dirk, and then Kareen to learn the skyhook. And KG, get him a super mean streak.

These AAU players that have zero fundamentals, are the ones that need more time to grow. There were so many warning that this kid was special, but LA, Phili, and minni, obviously didn't do their home work.

Minny got towns. He was the clear number one and he is playing like it. Given a do over, they still pick towns.

Actually OK4 was the clear cut #1. But there was a very small group of us that argued for many threads how towns should be moved up to first pick. Then another very small group that saw potential in KP....over ok4. Russell is the biggest surprise. Thought he would play better. I guess he's a system guy. Lakers don't have the right system.

Ok4 was not the clear cut #1. What are you saying? First of all, check the Towns thread, and Towns was ahead on every board before the draft.

I personally posted often about what I did not like about Ok4's game.

I did like Russell though and still do but much less certain especially being on that gross laker team.

It's really embarrassing how much u talk out of the side of your azz sometimes. You invite this on yourself for some reason. Please do your homework first. You were obviously late on the towns wagon. When he was the 6th best prospect u was no where to be found. Please stop....you're embarrassing yourself.

For a good part of the college season I remember OK4 being considered the #1 prospect. He was injured at some point, if I remember correctly and his game may have slowed down a bit. Folks also started looking more closely at at his defensive deficiencies and below the rim offensive game.

Towns seemed to come on late. I put him #1 based on his D and outside shooting, and because I thought he looked solid in the tournament.

I also think Towns put more effort into his pre-draft training. It was basically conceded that OK4 would go to the Lakers, his favorite team as a kid, but he did not impress in workouts, from what I remember, even though he was asked in twice.

Also remember reading that Flip Saunders liked OK4, but the rest of his team liked Towns.

Or it could just be Kobe being the psycho that he is and messing with the kid's head.

Thats the disadvantage of chat communication vs face to face. Hopefully you didn't pop a blood vessel over this miscommunication.

Please stop....you're embarrassing yourself.

on the draft boards right before the draft? Towns was the clear number one AT THE DAMN DRAFT no?

wish people would read posts before making fools out of themselves. Unnecessary.

Thank you.....There's no point in arguing historical facts. I couldn't have said it any better. Reinman u barking up the wrong tree ......I'm not going to argue facts it's pointless. Only opinions. Towns came on late.....but there's nothing wrong with that. I don't understand ur beef. Either way I'm done. U win.....

who gives a sh1t who came on late and who was the early favorite? You can't read? That is not my problem.

I said that towns was ahead on pretty much every board before the draft.

So you take "before" as meaning like a year before? 6 months?

I SAID RIGHT BEFORE THE FREAKIN DRAFT! gEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEz

good bye.

marsha marsha marsha!

Somebody needs a snickers!

I hear you reinman.....I read your original post and I see the mis communication. No big deal. I'm talking oranges and you're talking apples. It happens whenever theres a discussion via text or chat. Thats the disadvantage of chat communication vs face to face. Hopefully you didn't pop a blood vessel over this miscommunication.

LMAO ... I never take this stuff seriously. Just surprised me since me and you agree most of the time and never really ever argue.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Ford voiced something many of us have also thought about so far:

What have you seen watching Porzingis?

Ford: The same. Defense and rebounding were the things I thought he'd struggle with out of the gate. Porzingis is well ahead of the curve early on.

Ironically, where I thought he'd excel early -- shooting -- he's struggled. Porzingis is shooting just 23 percent from 3 so far. Given his soft shooting touch, I expect that will improve dramatically down the road. That makes me even more bullish about his future.

I'm hoping that as he becomes more relaxed and confident on the offensive end he should be averaging about 15+PPG with a few 20 pt games.

Amazing that we are talking about his progress in terms of games, weeks, or months, and not the "years" that we first heard talked about pre and post draft.

Thanks for bringing that up. Many great shooters struggled their rookie seasons shooting the ball. Shooting is about rhythm, confidence, and comfort and most don't have those things their rookie season. Dirk, who is widely considered the best shooting big man in league history, did not shoot well his rookie year. In fact his shooting numbers were approx. 40% shooting, 20% from three, and are very similar to Porzingis right now.

On Kris' poor outside shot.... couldn't it be all the strength training they're having him do is throwing off his accuracy from distance? Maybe he is adjusting to newfound upper body strength and needs to take a little off his release or even shoot from further back!

Everything in moderation. Even moderation.

These AAU players that have zero fundamentals, are the ones that need more time to grow. There were so many warning that this kid was special, but LA, Phili, and minni, obviously didn't do their home work.

Minny got towns. He was the clear number one and he is playing like it. Given a do over, they still pick towns.

Very true, he is still the best prospect in this draft. However, i think Porzingis has firmly established himself as the 2nd best prospect in a draft that seems filled with guys who have star potential. In fact, Coach Scott of the lakers more-less said had Porzingis been viewed as more NBA ready, he would have been their pick. And he has called Russell out already this season for not coming along fast enough on the defensive end. His issues with the young guys in LA are where Porzingis is thriving. It's scary that he has already admitted that mistake. Russell should still get it soon, i really thought he was the closest thing to Steph Curry to come out in recent years, and he was the better prospect. I was wrong, and glad Porzingis fell to us. He and Towns could both be top 5-10 players in 5 years.

I think that is part of it, but i really think he just needs the game to slow down a little for him. He is playing at 100 miles an hour when he is in, trying to impact the game with activity and intensity, and then when he gets an open shot, he has to flip a switch and calm himself down. That is incredibly hard to do and will take time, which is why most of these guys don't shoot well their rookie seasons.

You shouldn't be. His opinion on anything shouldn't mean a thing to anyone. All he was ever good for was passing along information, and recently he's shown he's not good even for that anymore. Basically he's now become useless, except for those who want to turn televised sports media into General Hospital.
