I think the results would surprise people.

do you just hope the dwil will pan out or are you actually convinced of this?

Depends if they go all out youth movement. With Grant and Galloway in the lineup, this would work for sure.

so grant galloway and dwil would work for sure?

Sure, along with KP and RoPez/KoQ. Why not? What's your counter lineup?

So you're just going to continue arguing on the Internet for something you know will not happen?

Stop stalking me man! Let me vent mah frustrations on teh interwebs.

Might I suggest reconciling with the idea Melo is a member of the Knicks and will continue to be (and a starter) for the foreseeable future? That way the frustation-venting isn't just a never-ending cycle?

I read that quick and thought he was praising the better defense. Knicks need to upgrade their backcourt. Afflalo should be a big help but they need to do something at the point guad spot.

Clyde said that Lopez was a much smarter pickup than Monroe ... so there! Clyde wins.

I agree. Was going to mention this in the Monroe thread but he (Monroe) strikes me as the type of player that looks attractive as a player from another team's fan perspective but does not actually help a team win. I guess we'll see how he fits in with the Bucks and if he pours in hollow points or he is a key cog.

I think Lopez has been really good. He looked bad on offense last night but overall I am really pleased with the Knicks signing him. I like him in the starting line up and I really like that he and KP play together. I think Lopez does a lot of under the radar good things that the Knicks haven't had a player do for a long time.

Let's face it now, Lopez is going to be in the invisible glue who does the little things in wins, and he's going to be invisible and do little in the losses.

Right. And no guarantees that he will work out but he certainly has the right character too.

His offense has looked shaky but it seems that Phil wants him to take many more shots then he is used to.

And, I am actually surprised at his mid range shot. I did not realize that it was even as good at it is.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

BRIGGS you can learn from Hubbie and start reading my posts like he does. He basically said exactly what I said weeks ago. Every above average team has multiple 20 point scorers in there starting lineup. Elite teams have a 6th man who can score 20. Thats why we need Grant in that starting lineup. KP needs to get up to speed as well.

Maybe we shouldn't expect the Knicks to be above average on Nov. 5 2015? Maybe that'll take time?

Grant can average 20 per game? Really???

Typo....I meant Gallo. But that is correct, we shouldn't expect above average, if we were normal fan and this was a normal franchise in some midwest state. But thats not the case, so lets be real. Knick fans want success right away, or at least some signs of success. I'm not the biggest Fisher fan, but I like the pieces we have so far!

the scoring talent on this team is unproven, but we also don't have any non-scorers. We may not have a 20ppg guy, but we have 6-7 guys who if they score 15 you don't look twice.

Is there any doubt KP is going to emerge as if nothing else a scorer?

Also we have sacrificed scoring for defense. Monroe would be a 20ppg guy, and turnstile

That's what I thought too!

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

We sacrifice nothing.
20+ point players just do to want to play with black hole dude taking all shots regardless of he can hit them or not.
Hopefully Melo will go back to 40+ shooting so we can get 30-35 wins and declare this season a success..

Time is ticking with melo. Im sure by now being the scoring leader is no longer his goal. My issue is does melo know how to and feel comfortable impacting the game outside of scoring? Thats the problem with him asking for the max. Now he has to carry that monkey on his back and try to perform up to his pay range. I dont think melo can do that consistently without putting up 25 to 30 attempts. But we all grow and mature so hopefully this is a new melo going forward. Thats all we can do at this point. So fat in the off season.....melo was a leader. We need that same leadership during the season. Melo should be able to make Fishers job easier.....thats how he lives up to his max dollars or superstar status.

for what its worth
Carmelo Anthony’s poor shooting percentage to begin the season may be worrisome to some, but coach Derek Fisher said he has been pleased with his star forward’s start.

Particularly his understanding that with better pieces around him, he doesn’t have to attempt to score 30 points every night.

“I think Carmelo’s been doing a good job in that area, trying to find the balance between being himself and being a scorer and being aggressive, and trying to fit into the team dynamic,” Fisher said Thursday afternoon on WFAN. “Then also coming off surgery, there’s a lot he’s balanced out there, but he’s doing a good job overall.

“I think he’s reforming his game fine. As we grow together … we’ll improve and I think you’ll start to see Carmelo be more efficient, at least percentage-wise, as we move forward.”

90% of the league can score 20 points given the minutes and touches. Even if we doint have a consistent 20 point scorer, i would rather have 5 players in double figures and 1 player over 20.

Nope, I don't think so. A bad player trying to score 20 points every night will look absolutely terrible. What happens is that weak offensive players will sometimes have games where their teammate is being constantly double-teamed, or rebounds are bouncing their way, or they have a very easy matchup (like Calderon) where the stars will align and a bad offensive player can score 20 and look good doing it. But if that same player tried to score 20 every night the opportunities would not be there on a game-by-game basis and the other team might even begin to gameplan for that player which would make scoring even harder.

Additionally, The notion that good teams need to have 2 or 3 guys that will average 20 points a game is not accurate mathematically if you look at the PPG league leaders. Usually the scoring will be something like 22, 17, 13, with 3-4 more guys in the 8-12 point range. Then you have 2-3 guys that you can count on for 5-7 points and that is how the scoring is distributed on a balanced good team. Now, on a big three team you might see that top heavy scoring with 3 guys at 20+ points but on the majority of good teams the scoring is not so heavily concentrated in the top 3 spots.
