Some more defense and some more passing can change everything. Or fuk that team player bull sh1t and just win.

If you don't win you better make sure that NY thinks that you did everything that you can to try.

Again, not a bad guy at all just does not really get it sometimes.

Ewing was all the above and then some...What happened there?

he didn't pass enough and had a sh1tty personality.

He also finger rolled and made a bonehead guarantee.

You can make up a reason to hate everyone in NY..Look at Eli and Coughlin..U have to be like Jeter to get over..Win 5 times and have no public persona..

Why do u care about Ewing's sh1tty personality..You are best friends with the press now?

I care become it made me fall in love with him less. Love is love.

Dude played hard and left it on the court is all I cared about...

That video was dang awesome. The honesty was also quite refreshing. He drives me nuts on the court on occasion but I root for the guy and that video makes me root harder for him.

With that said, I can totally see people getting their panties in a bunch over this. He might get boo'd for it.

If one knows to himself he put it all on the court and did all he can to make the team he plays for a winner, it will be no pressure.
Melo knows deep inside that some things he did were good for himself but not good for The Knicks.
This creates pressure. Pressure to prove that this all was an acceptable price for his services.
I have no issues with his statement.. except it is about him (again) not about The City and not about the Knicks.
The only way to greatness is when someone is a part of something bigger that himself.
And Melo is not a part of anything yet to rave about. He accomplished nothing since his College years.
Pressure is on....

Spot on. Melo has accomplished nothing as a "New Yorker" or as a "Knick".

But hey he has $124 million and LaLa's Full Court Life to show for it!

Ewing was an excellent player but I just did not love him and its not just because he did not win. Don Mattingly never won but NY was sickly crazy over him.

I also agree with this quote. This city is crazy, manic depression personified. UKers on this board who live here know that, UKers who don't live here now but used to know that and said "**** New York" with their feet. Millions of dollars and even championships do not guarantee happiness, case in point another New Yorker: Lamar Odom.

I don't question Melo's New Yorker credentials, even if he's from West Baltimore. His parents are from here, his wife's family too. He's Black & Boricua and literally wears the city on his chest and is the face of New York basketball. That's pretty New York to me. He's no Marbury — that Isola anecdote alone was so NY — but Marbury is on his "Fuck New York ****" right now in China.

I'll grant he should keep it in perspective the struggles of poor folks in all the places he's been: NYC, B-more, PR. He acknowledges that the heights he can get here are amazing, but so are the lows, even for a rich dude like him. I totally feel that quote, it's real talk.

you are not even trying with that one. You are just spitting out things that are irrelevant and not being argued.

With ewing there was a lot to like but there are reasons that many fans did/do not love him. That is not necessarily his fault especially in regards to personality.

You are either loved or you are not. You can't tell other people / fans how to feel.

Again, I did not like that he was a ball hog. Does that mean that he was not good or that it was not a good time to be a knick fan?

LOL ... there you go again.

Ewing is far from hated in NY, he is likes way more than is likeability calls for.

Don Mattingly (AGAIN) was loved because of the pure way that he approached the game and the fact that for the most part (like jeter) he shut the fuk up.

Melo can't stop sticking his silver foot in his mouth and Ewing whenever he spoke was better off not being heard.

And yes ... of course Ewing was a ball hog but then again, you have your own standards in regards to passing. Who was he suppose to pass to? Trent Tucker?

NY hates dumb more than anything.

You don't have to win in NY, you have to overachieve and never ever look like you are dogging it. Jeter ran to first every play as if his life depended on it. If Melo played baseball he would just be another Robby Canoe.

The team never looked a contender throw all this "3 consecutive playoff berths"...
Team looked more like a joke with one high paid joker.
We can easily be as mediocre-to-bad with half of the payroll and without any players of Melo price tag.
And with some light at the end of the tunnel not the team stripped form picks, young talent, and cap space.
Granted team was royally mismanaged and sold out to agencies but Melo never helped it in any way ether.

Haha starved for attention is the NYC motto. Hey that Sinatra song isn't getting enough play, can Jay-Z and Alicia Keys help remind everyone about this quaint little East Coast city folks might not know much about? Oh and I don't know if anyone has heard of Brooklyn, maybe naming everything after it might grab some mindshare if we're lucky.

I'm not even a New Yorker and I know what he meant by that. It's simple. New York's a tough city. It can beat you down. You wake up and say 'phuck you, NY.' And you know what? NY wouldn't have it any other way.
