Yeah, I would. He seems to treat his sources well and he has a solid track record in the nba. Plus, I doubt he gets most of his info from current players anyway.

SAS is a class A douche. His whole lively hood is based on sucking up, gaining access and trust, and regurgiating that info to the public for his own profit. I under they exist, I understand they will always exist, and I understand that they are scumbags.

There is so little actual journalism these days.. its a he said she said poop flinging free for all to see what sticks and which wall it sticks on.

SAS has no substance. Only volume

im not denying that...but thats even more reason for these athletes to be nice around them. lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I can promise KD wins that battle. SAS will only look petty pursuing anything against KD.

i wouldn't be surprised if stephen a. smith loses his job within the next 12 months.

It's just best to ignore the media questions which are often designed to get a bad reaction out of athletes so in this case the reporters got the controversy they wanted.

Durant was attacking SAS or clarifying his own position? SAS reporting that Durant is thinking about going to LAL may hurt Durant's credibility and ties to the community he has today. Why can't he rebuke SAS's remark?

Cuz the Media won't leave it alone and in particular SAS who has a major platform to keep making statements and articles etc. I'm not saying he does't have a RIGHT to respond only that it's not worth the ongoing drama. KD didn't just refute the statements he called SAS a Liar, so he attacked SAS's credibility, which insured a full response. If KD had just let it go, it wouldn't have escalated but rather would die down like most rumors. Now it's an ongoing scandal because of the SAS response.

Maybe Durant doesn't give a crap about SAS or what his reaction would be and wanted to clarify things?

I'm sure that's what he may have been thinking but I also think taking just a second to pause and think he could've made his point without calling SAS a Liar. It's impossible to really shut down a rumor by inflaming the source who has a daily TV show. It's counter productive. If KD ignores the rumor or passes it off as just another rumor the issue would fade away as they always do. A person can escalate or de-escalate a situation and being a Vet KD should know all the ways to shut down a rumor without escalating it.

Melo did that and they are STILL asking him every interview if he's asking for a trade. No, that doesnt work, and often unaddressed rumors pick up steam.

KD is flat out right for calling SAS a liar, and if SAS doesnt like it he can name his sourse. Otherwise piss off. Fair game.

Likewise, SAS could have ended it with a 1 minutes "I'm not lying, this is what I was told". Instead we get that 22 minute gem.

Both guys are calling the other a liar over nothing particularly note worthy.

I didn't just say that KD should ignore it. I also said KD could pass it off as another rumor WITHOUT maligning SAS character. That's the part I'm talking about that really made the issue worse. I understand responding to the rumor and refuting it, but you don't have to push the point beyond that. Saying SAS is a Liar was the unnecessary inflammatory statement in his response. That's real my point. The manner in which KD responded was too harsh and he had to know it would only raise the level of SAS's response to be called a liar. It's the worst thing you can say about a reporter.

Calling the guy a liar was harsh. So was publishing a report without going to the source - Durant - and just asking him about it.

Maybe Durant wanted to stop all the rumors in the future too, this surely will do it, or at least make someone think twice on it. Does Durant have anything to lose?

Steven A has always been a fraud and always will be. If ESPN has any balls they would fire Steven A Smith or make him publically apologize to KD and to all the Black men. I don't see how being a black man has anything to do with this. The guy is full of himself.

KD is unique world class athlete and celebrated figure. SAS is regular shmak which are available in bunches.
So it is no contest.

Stephen A. Smith always claims he's some player's friend and confidant. He was lying about what he heard from Melo as well.

Durant doesn't need this guy to exist, while SAS's whole livelihood are the players. Durant could've been harsher than he was and come out just fine.

We at least Stephen will lose his job now and we won't have to see him plastered all over a major network. If anyone still likes him they can pay for a subscription to hear him on SiriusXM. This was a long time coming. Can't belief the level of self importance he feels to go after an NBA megastar in that manner. Especially when Durant made it clear he doesn't know him or care about his opinions

smith is trying to make a case for some sort of mutuality that has the connotation of equality. there is no mutuality, since one party depends on the other for his livelihood. if smith wants to follow through on his threat to uncover dark things about durant there is a thing called libel and a thing called lawsuit. durant has plenty of goodwill from the world and smith is a braying jackass who at least half the world is repulsed by. durant also has plenty of fu money to ruin smith. checkmate

With the news of Smith's rant travelling to his inner circle, KD has offered an apology to Stephen A today for calling him a liar:

Just kidding, he's too busy printing money and building his brand to even bother giving this insect Stephen A a breath.

I really liked Aldridge as the nba guy for espn. Stephen A. is much more provocative but I don't know that it is necessary.

Just watched it. I didn't think Stephen A. was that bad. I agree that Durant has gotten a pass from the media. Not sure how he would handle the media in a market like NY or LA but it certainly would be a lot different.

Who gives flying flip about what this loser says? Clearly Durant doesn't and hasn't responded. Which is the right move.
