Really? I like this signing. Unlike the derricks williams signing, there were hardly any options that were available that could better him. We got him at a nice price., he can impact the court on both ends (maybe a little less than he could with the magic) ,he can hit those midrange jumpers effectively, and a very reliable 3pt shooter and secondary scorer, and has a high character unlike all of our other previous shooting guards. If he sucks, he has a movable contract and his deal is short as well. His wife shares are a bit concerning but nevertheless, I look forward to seeing him play.
His teammates get privileges with his wife? Maybe that's why Melo likes him.
Seriously though a lot of his stats look bad. Nate Silver's 538.com had his projected value over 2 years at $1 mil total even though we're paying him $16 mil! I don't think he's that bad but I haven't seen any metrics that would indicate it's actually a good signing.
If your going to talk stat/metric, why was Nash a better play under MDA, who had less talent around him than DALLAS.
Safe bet would suggest system and coaching. When you win MVP, it's a big thing, when you win it back to back, your no fluke.
"I watched a ton of film," Afflalo said. "I anticipated wanting to play for New York. I was even watching triangle film before I even signed with New York just in hopes of. I'm very excited. I feel I can be very effective within the offense."Recent history suggests that Afflalo can thrive in the triangle, which produces a plethora of opportunities for midrange jump shooters.
He hit 46.1 percent of his midrange shots last season -- the 10th-highest percentage in the league (minimum 200 attempts).
This should be a solid move, not a glamorous one, and obviously Melo thinks so too
