last season didn't Calderon start having groin and calf problems beginning with the start of training camp? I really don't understand what these Euro guys do in the offseason. It doesn't look like they ever set foot inside a weight room. I could be completely off here, but can a 35 y.o. show up at camp and expect to play himself into shape? I really hope that he is getting himself ready for the season starting now

Just say according to the doctors, I should be ready and I'm looking forward to starting the year off right.

Maybe he did say this.

not really... before last year Jose was a b2b starter and played every game. He was a starter for Dallas on a 50 win team. People have forgotten this guys actually a pretty good player.

The utterly useless Jose vs. the Spurs about 14 months ago (ancient history for Knick fans)

if it had been one injury - kinda like Melo's- then maybe I could think he could return to form. But these were the nagging injuries of an older, out of shape player. I need to see him show up and make it through training camp before I have any expectations for the year.

Older players, especially PGs have to work extra hard to be able to compete against the speed they will face in the NBA. Prigs knows this, and that's why he can compete at his age even though he is not a superior athlete.

First time he has to sit out in TC because of a "nagging" hamstring/quad/whatever injury, his butt should be on the bench for good.

he is a horrible defender even when healthy... phil no likee

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

so was allan houston, that never stop us from being one of the top defensive teams in that ERA. My suggestion, put more defensive role players around poor defenders, and they become adequate.

They party all nite all summer in Ibiza and sleep with tall skinny models, smoke cigs and snort blow!!!

C'mon man, lets not stereotype these guys. Jose usually plays for the Spanish National team when so called upon.

so then you think he shows up for camp in shape? I only ask because you see the american players at camps and leagues all summer. I never hear what the Euros are up to and they never look in shape in Sept.

was Raymond Felton European?

If we're going to classify guys, lets group them into 'train like heck' off season and 'kinda work at it a bit, but...'

I think most euros have the reputation for keeping themselves in great shape. Maybe not lifting weights but doing whatever else to stay in shape. I'm excited to have a healthy Calderon and I absolutely think he should be the starter next year.
