Pretty sure the Pacers/Nets had a playoff game that was broadcast only on nbatv. Kidd/Miller. Nbatv was an add on channel at the time. I believe I paid $10.00 to add the channel and cancel it the next day. It was a great game and I ad no regrets. I would pay it for a Knicks game if I couldn't watch it but I am in the Knicks market and can't get them on league pass anyway. The best option is ball streams.

Yeah, seriously. An Amazon instant movie is $2.99. $3.99 for the HD version. That's what I'd pay for an NBA game. And for a league pass with 1/30th the total teams it's 60% the price?!

for example for the comcast customers in atlanta, you get games on 471-482 and 882 for nba tv in hd.
471-482 is in SD.

so even if you do get league pass... you still are watching games in SD...? what a ripoff.

ballstreams is in 720 p. I have had games on national tv and ballstreams and flipped back and forth and could not tell the difference.

yep i know it is 720 p... just wish it was 1080 p.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

I think the point is some of these specs are really an nice way of tv manufactures to pump up prices and push the consumer.
Plasma dollar for dollar are better sets and many of the early issues of "burn in" were solved midway thru the product cycle. Heat was major issue and while they have improved some, the new LED's do run much cooler. I have a 7 year old 58' plasma by panasonic and it cost $3300 at the time. This set is not the thinnest but in its place it produces a great deep sound which is great for most viewing and sports. While prices have come down some, the offerings stay pretty expensive with "Smart features" built in. I have a Panny 47 inch smart TV in our Kitchen/Holding room which is nice for one button netflix viewing but other than that the surfing and youtube features are slow and clumsy to obtain. A Google Stick, Amazon fire, or Apple TV would be better and each is about $100. So basically most tv can be made smart. By pairing the better specs with add on features they can jack the price up.

Real performance is not just pixel rate but refresh rate and thats huge in sports. Plasma has and is superior in every facet of this. Its why even after 7 years I am not motivated at all to replace mine. I don't like the heat it throws off in the summer (the cooling fan is audible when set is silent)nor the 100lb weight it has. I mounted it and have not moved it since. Room is due for a painting and I dread having to remove it, as well as unwiring my audio system.

4k resolution is a nice idea but so little content is produced in this manner. Sports would benefit the most. Most movies are not shot to be crystal clear. You see this with lower priced LED Tv's with big screens and the picture becomes "flat" or more like a video production of a local news broadcast. My father in law loves to boast his 70 inch screen was $1500 at costco and while the picture is clear, its flat and awful when not on sports.

Current curved screens provide no motivation for me to get a new TV. Really would like to have a65-70 inch in the room but the picture has to be right. The TV's I like are mostly $4000 and I don't really see the benefit at this time. I prefer to fine a model that has the picture spec's but not the smart features.

After a huge run where consumers replaced the CRT tv's in a short period of time companies are struggling to find new products to motivate buyers. for now Size at lower prices are attracting but at some point this will also become problematic. The current picture quality is really quite good and moving it alone, or mandating a new standard is really not good for the consumer.

As we all know, not everyone is wiling to pay for the premium viewing experience and find that large 27inch monitors are quite suitable. My daughter does not own a TV at age 21. She is ok with her laptop. She is unplugged.

The NBA regular season was brutal last year, especially with the random vacations. If I bought that Tier 1 ticket for the Thunder where they jacked up the face 400% to watch all the good players sit on the bench I woulda lost my mind.

The $6.99 is a fair price, but it should be for the day. Typically there is max 1 good game on a night anyway. This should be offered as a 1 day price, god forbid they throw the fans a bone.

If I watch ballstreams using wireless I can notice a slight difference. If I watch using a wired connection I see no difference.
