okafor is soooo freakin skilled. but the dude's chubby and i could see him gettin fat. work ethic's already been questioned.

Okafor:
I also think he is extremely skilled, but on the offensive end. His conditioning will probably come around but he is not going to be able to bully NBA centers around imo, and will have to develop other parts of his offensive game. Which, I think he will. The problems:

Defense - He is below average, especially for his size.
Free Throw shooting - Do you really want to throw it down low to him and have Hack a Shack? (Even if they change the "rule" lol.)

Kristaps on the other hand is honestly a marvel, a two way player who can score from outside, midrange (did you guys notice this?) and up close (needs to gain strength.)
He can pass, partly due to his size (see's the floor incredibly and has quick reactions) and can defend extremely well. Once his body fills out, look out.
No way do I pick Towns over this guy. Right now you can argue KP is the #1 pick and if the draft was redone, he is not there for us to pick.

Edit - just found this: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/knick-fans-warming-kristaps-porzingis-summer-league-article-1.2292520

Okafor complimented Porzingis, saying that the 19-year-old "looks like he can do everything." Porzingis has impressed opponents and scouts in his three games here.
Two NBA general managers, who did not want to be identified, said they would have selected Porzingis first overall.

and http://nypost.com/2015/07/14/porzingis-rejects-okafor-in-final-minute-of-ot-in-knicks-summer-league-win/

The Sixers went with the safer choice in Okafor. Ironically, Knicks general manager Steve Mills revealed on MSG Network that Clarence Gaines, Phil Jackson’s top advisor, graded Porzingis as the No. 1 pick in the draft over Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns.

For once our bad luck turned into good luck. If KP gains 15 lbs (which he will) and can stay healthy (which I hope) there is no way this kid does not turn into an Allstar. No one that I recall has his combination of shooting skills, passing, blocking, agility, and height.

In watching the game last night, I see why the Lakers passed on Okafor (even though I still would have taken him over Russell). Okafor's defense is terrible. He has a lot of work to put in on his game, but his post moves are the best I have ever seen from a rookie. He will clearly be a 20 pt 8 rebound guy this season.

IMO KP, however, is a better prospect primarily because he is a very solid defensive player who will only get better. By the end of the year, everyone will be saying that the Knicks outsmarted everyone and got the best player in the draft with the 4th pick. Good job Phil in taking this kid.

Part of me wish that i could identify all the knicks fans that hated this pick since nearly every knick fan all of a sudden loves the pick....even the crying 10yr old. But nothing hes doing has surprised me at all. I predicted just about every impact hes having on the game....even on defense. I still think Knick fans are impatient but this kid can handle the pressure of nyc.....which is really the only thing i questioned. Im just glad we have phil as our GM and not some Dolan puppet GM from the past.

I wish they would just let him catch the ball, face up to the basket and shoot over his defender. At over seven feet and that high, high shot, he should have no problem.

Some guys are blaming him for not getting positioning, but all I've seen is him holding ground at the elbow, and the guards swing in back to the other side.

Travis ****ing Wear got more touches than KP did, that's ridiculous. These guards are just not looking to run the offense through him. He should get more than 5 freaking shots a game. I don't know wtf Fisher is on about. Okafor got his touches, Towns is getting his, let KP get some of his. Give him a few iso's for Gods sake.

Did I just ask for Iso's? lmao. I get it though. Fisher isn't giving him the pressure of carrying the team, the offense. Just go out there and make plays....I get it. I guess it's just the giddy fan in me that would like to see him bomb away a little...it is the summer league after all.

He's a very solid kid though, plays within the flow and doesn't break plays. Great pick.

I think the limited his minutes and action base on the hip injury. I believe there taking it slow with him

and KP said just that. Said he wanted to play more but staff didnt want to aggravate his hip so they are keeing his minutes down.

KP looks great. Ive always thought OK4 is a franchise player and still do and still will be. That being said it was pretty cool watching OK4's dad jumping up yelling when KP blocked his kid's shot

I sure hope we don't use him like Kevin Mchale and do a lot more with him. Have him stretch the floor with one of the smoothest stroke I have seen.

Could you imagine if Ok4 had to actually come out and guard him on the perimeter? Why make it so easy for him having KP just sit in the mid/high post? Move the kid around! No big can stop that shot.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

KP may be a more dynamic star player than OK4 but makes KP clearly better than Towns?

Seems like the Knicks need to look for him more on offense. His jumper in the high post seems automatic.

Okafor's post moves are insane. He's gonna be ROY. He'll put up 25ppg on that Philly team. To me his basement is DeMarcus Cousins and his ceiling is a Duncan or Hakeem level offensive player.

IMO Not even close. He may put up some empty stats on a bad team if he hoists up twenty shots a night but my sense is that his WA48 will be mediocre. Think his overall game in NBA will be average and he will be at times a liabilty

Gotta say I can't get enough of watching KP block OK4's shots repeatedly. Can't wait to see KP when he fills out. This kid has all kinds of upside to be a dominant player. Can't think of his combination of Elite Size and Length but also high Skill and Athletic ability. KP is just scratching the surface of what he can be.

Pretty accurate video.

What's Porzingis giving Okafor? Like 40-50 pounds at least?

He still scored on that block.

Daddy wasnt happy that son was starting to get routinely Spaldingnized. Love how KP at halftime spoke on having to make adjustments then made them.

He didn't score, it was a turnover. Offensive foul on Okafor.

That is just awesome! A guy who less than 2 months ago was just a guy with a funny name is now schooling OK4, the projected best college player and #1 pick going into the NCAA season.

I don't even know how to put this in words but just think about it. Most of us have never seen the Knicks draft a player with this much potential. You have to go back to Ewing and then the 60-70s Knicks!

The era of overpaying fake over the hill stars and castoffs are over!

We very well might finally have our own homegrown SUPERFUCKINSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL gunsnewing, love the enthusiasm!

Although I still see Okafor the probable Rookie of the Year, I can definitely see Porzingis with the better overall career if everything falls into place nicely.

For this season, if Kris can average 12 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 1 steal at 50%FG, 40%3PT, 80%FT...that would be an amazing start to his career.

Gain strength and conditioning and keep ramping up. Year 2, 15 and 7. Year 3 18 and 8. By Year 5 if he isn't the best Knick on the team, then we can safely call him a bust.

Love the signs so far though...
