It should be interesting. KP has so much height and length on him that it might balance out the strength advantage.

Tell that to Dirk Nowitski.

Why do you want to limit KP to 10-12 feet in right out of the gate?

So we should tell a 19yr old 3pt shooter not to shoot 3's?

I'm glad you're not on the knicks coaching staff.

KP will do exactly what you saw the first game. He's not beating people off the dribble like KD. So that pull up jumper will be his go to move. Otherwise, we should've over paid for Smith....He's a big that only shoots within the range you would like.

KP has unlimited range, which means he will shoot whenever and where ever he's open. Phil didn't draft him to hesitate on his jumper or to get 10 or more assist. He's an offensive threat that will help balance out the double teams on Melo.

What he needs to do is run off of picks or some of those down screens and shoot. But mix it up and do exactly what he did in game 1.

I'm looking to see if Grant has a better game. He was clearly nervous in the first game. I'm sure Harvey Grant was in his ear telling him to play his game. With the triangle, you have to be patient. It takes time to get comfortable.

Reading comprehension man. Chill because we actually agree. I was telling Briggs you don't tell a 19yr old Dirk Nowitski to stay within 10ft. KP has the potential to be a sharp shooter from 3 like Dirk & Love. Not Pau Gasol who can go in the block but also hit 18-20 footers. However Pau can't shoot 3's like KP, Love & Durant. KP is special. The worst thing the Knicms can do is try too it his offensive skills. Let him play the way he's played his entire life. It was those skills that got him drafted 4th overall. Let him grow into his body and slowly incorporate some post moves into his offensive arsenal. Maybe he can see Hakeem the Dream later on in his career. One step at a time. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE HIM OVERNIGHT PLEASE! This kid is special

So forget the countless videos we watched for over a month of him scoring from all over the floor? And just base everything off his first summer league game? Maybe he wasn't trying to do to much. Let's give him a few games before we start pigeonholing him. He is more Dirk/Durant with his skills than Pau. If he can develop on the low block, both offensively & defensively, the way Pau did we will have ourselves a very special player. Way more dynamic than Pau Gasol

No I want our 7-3 pivot to take good high quality shots. I don't need to say anything I guàrantee our coaching staff will remind him what a god shot is and where a 7-3 guy should be taking his shots from. His play is mid range face up to post. Anything farther than 12-14 feet should be in transition set or broken play. Otherwise I think kp can shoot 53-57% inside of 12 feet.

Sorry bud, but Bargnani signed with the Nets.

The player you're describing, we had ANOTHER one like that. Nice stroke from 12 feet and grabbed rebounds. He's not on the team either (Jason Smith). Fact is, and my point is, Carmelo hogs the elbows at the mid range, we need somebody that can spread the floor to the three point line, can shoot over anybody, and finish inside as well. Bargnani was actually a pretty decent shooter from mid-range, he was almost automatic when he came off of a screen at the free throw line, but we rarely ran that play because our superstar would rather camp out in the same area and hold the ball looking to make a move. If you want KP to do what you say you do, I'm afraid it will be a waste of time.

His flawless shot and range is what got him into the league, and you want him to just shoot mid-range shots and bang in the low post with his 19 year old spaghetti body, lol...ok. If you've watched him play, he shoots off screens and can comfortably spot up for threes, can put the ball down a few times for a pull up. He doesn't post up and bang down low to get shots, he isn't your typical 7 footer, he played point guard as a teen even though he was the tallest kid on his team. He's too skilled to be relegated to just hanging around in the paint.

Exactly. Rushing a 19yr old who isn't fuy developed physically and forcing him to out muscle NBA veterans on the block is extremely misguided. Let him play his game. You teach teach him post moves once his body can handle it. He doesn't need to bulk up. It's going to take a few years for him to look like KG & Pau physically.

And yes he does have PG skills. The reason this works is because we declare you need playmakers on this team that's consists of Melo. You can't have guys pounding the ball like Amare and Bargnani playing with Melo.

Phil knows exactly what he is doing

Phil I'd like to see kp start off with good habits. Taking smart high % shots like an Anthony Davis would be in his and the teams best interests. I know he got fouled on the 3 he took but it was a bad 3. Stay near the basket concentrate on getting rebounds putting himself in great position to score well.

Hey Briggs. I'm not worried about his fundamentals. I want to see the other D have to come out so he can outquick them, burn them with the shot, or pass to a cutter. I want to be able to move him in and out and wreck teams.

Randle is solid, but I dont think he has that explosiveness in his game to be a star.
