Cole took a big step back too. Very big.

I remember someone said his ws48 dropped or something, he still was a plus player.

this system did not make anyone look good. And, the players that we had running this packard did not help.

Melos ws48 fell waay down as well.
Makes me wonder whether or not Lopez's ws48 will go down as well unless we make the side screen and roles our main plays of the triangle.

He went from playing 300 minutes to almost a 1,000 minutes. He was a rotation player for parts of last year. The previous year he rarely played.

could be the extended minutes caused it but he also looked like he had no clue what to do in the offense and often taking some terrible shots.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Melo was hurt so that was a contributor. Also, the fact that he refused to pass out of the double and triple teams did not help him either.

I don't remember much of anything from his 330 minutes the previous year. Maybe one or two games with extended minutes but he barely played. Not sure how you can judge efficiency on such a small sample size. I looked back at his game log and he had 2 games where he played 15+ minutes prior to getting 65 minutes in the final two games of the season. If you subtract the last two games he played 265 minutes for the entire season. Also, I would assume at least of those 265 minutes were when games had been decided and end of the bench guys were getting minutes.

I did not judge him on that small sample size. I was just hoping that he would get more minutes to see if it was sustainable and it looks like it was not.

He showed many positives and at this point, I am not sure if it was stamina, the triangle, the sh1tty team, or the extended minutes.

In recent years RoLo has been ave'ing about 7-8 shots a game. I suspect he'll end up with a couple more attempts and lot of more touches in the flow of this offense. It's hard to say what percentage of his shots will come on PnR. He's fairly versatile for a mostly defensive Center.

Of Robin's 437 FGA's 125 were as the roll man in PnR. He made 75 of them for 60%. I'm not sure how many PnR plays they'll run for RoLo but I doubt it will be as many as he is used to in Portland but that is yet to be determined. The Knicks increased the number of PnR plays they ran as the year went along. I highlighted the shots that were most likely coming mostly on PnR. There are other ways to get him the ball in a similar way where he's open and moving towards the basket. I do think he'll get a few more post ups because that's the dominant part of the Triangle. We run more Give and Go style plays, which can still result in a similar situation if his defender moves to try and stop the guard going to the rim.

I thought he showed positives last year but stamina was a huge issue for him.

I think Cole is a perfect sub. He is highly efficient in limited minutes. That seems to me the best use of him. Some players are better than others coming in on a cold start and some players don't do well unless they play extended minutes cuz they need to warm up to the game it seems. Cole just does what he does efficiently with very few minutes.
