Is that the deal? OK but was Shved on board with that all along? If not, we probably should've made him a little more of a priority, no? I really wanted this guy back, man. A skilled 6'6" guard who can really do some good things including run the point and facilitate the offense. And he handled playing in NY VERY WELL which not every player can do. I thought Phil wanted this guy back too.. Strange...Just because we got Jerian Grant, that doesn't make Shved expendable, not in my eyes. I thought we really needed Shved back too for backcourt depth and balance. Here's hoping we can still get that done somehow.
Would you rather have Shved (room exemption) or take the chances on 6"6' Point/SG Daniel Hackett??
There are advantages for staying below the salary cap, like being able to put claims on players on the Waivers or AMNESTIED players, which will likely happen any time from a couple weeks to the start of training camp
Especially for someone like Christian Wood that could be available
We could bring in some guys to training camp and NOT sign them till closer to the start of the season, while still paying them for training camp invites as a loophole to stay on the time
We could use the room exemption on 2 players with 0 years of experience to sign 3year deals like for Thanasis/Daniel Hackket
Depending on how we structure the deals of Lopez, Affalo, Derrick Williams, we could pay them less this year but more next year with raises, for more cap space to use this year vs next year
Not sure if we offering John Jenkins a vet min deal or our room exemption
Along with AB and Shved for room exemption, if there is interest or not
It seems like we have interest in every player whether through FA or the draft, or agents are just using us for leverage like in the past and Phil Jackson is trying to build better relationship with players and their agents
