maybe he went there because Pop is a great coach and they have the best FO in the NBA.

And he has as good a shot there as any of the top teams.

those are as good as pretty much any team (not Lebron).

I think for West maybe the decision was secondarily winning a championship, and primarily going with the best coach in the NBA & best FO.

Of course not, but that is the reality.

We can't say it's stupid without knowing what he values in life. That's like calling someone stupid for liking the color green. If he prefers to have 86 mil in career earnings and a shot at a ring than 96 mil and no ring, then the decision was intelligent.

career earnings are irrelevant, it all depends on how he managed him money. If he is financially set then I can understand the decision.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I dunno--he and his agent may have simply misjudged the market for his services. I don't know if he knowingly declined big money because he wanted a ring with a contender..Maybe, maybe not.. May have just worked out that way. Interested to see if he fires his agent soon. Who else officially offered him a contract? I know he came out and dismissed the NY rumors but I don't think we ever offered him a contract, never even sat down and spoke to this dude. Not sure how many other teams did.

Its your reality but he is free to define his own reality He is clearly a free man and made a choice based on value not cost or price. And he has great exemplars of sacrifice in San Antonio. He is a free man and is acting as such.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

He's earned over 80 million. His values are those of a free man. I look forward to being proven wrong so I can add more grist to my cynic mill.

gives up 12 million dollar for a chance at a ring.

Wow - that truly shows he cared only to win and not for money. wish we could have landed him, but not happy with how he dissed the Knicks.

If he gave up 10 mil and they don't win the chip he'll be the biggest idiot in the league.

Says you. How many of us really need 10 million more dollars when you have earned several anyway? One's priorities are not always the same. He's not exactly struggling to survive. Guessing he knows what he wants and is doing.
