attaboy nix we need those silver linings

I don't understand why this is a let-down anyways. No one ever saw him as a likely signing.

agreed i never thought we had a chance in hell. However things arent exactly looking great for us. We suffered a 17 win season with the thought that we would at least get one of the top 3 prospects in the draft...that didnt happen. We cleared all that cap space to at least get some talent in here and so far we are striking out. Yes the offseason just started so im not giving up but im a little worried

I don't want to be mean to Phil - but this is a disaster. Every single move he's made his been a disaster - outside of maybe the draft. But even then we somehow missed out on three sure thing all-stars for a maybe all-star. Maybe KP is a steal, he's likely not Towns or Russell though.

I mean, I like Phil, but he has not done well here. He's whiffed on FA after blowing up the team for no assets. He gave away Tyson and Shump who signed for a combined $93M in FA.

So they should lie to LMA and tell him they don't intend to use him at C? I don't get your point here.

The Suns went out and bought Tyson Chandler to play next to LMA and Suns are now second on his list.

It's WELL KNOWN that LMA doesn't want to play center.

Knicks could've secured Robin Lopez and then chased LMA if they really wanted a shot.

They had the cap room for both those guys before Afflalo.

What should we care about what the Suns are doing? We can't base what we can do on what other teams can do. We're not at the same stage as other teams. We just started the rebuild process this year. We can expect that we'd be in the same situation as teams that far down the road in comparison.

LMA doesn't want to come here that's fine. There are still other bigs that we can target. This isn't over.

We have to play other teams in order to win games.

I'm sorry but there is no way to spin this - Phil geared everything towards FA and struck out.

He hasn't struck out. We went in knowing we needed a SG and Bigs and we still have options on the board to fill those roles. There were other teams with better rosters we were competing with and Phil knew this and talked about that. There are no guarantees in Free Agency.

We have no bigs under contract. We have zero big men. The top tier ones won't even meet with us. The ones who meet with us won't sign with us.

This is a disaster. There is no way to say it is not.

How does Aldridge fit next to Bosh? How do they have the money to sign him?

I would guess they'd offer a sign and trade of Bosh if LMA wants to go there.

The hilarious thing is that Riley will absolutely use Justice Winslow as a selling point to LMA

In 2010 we panicked and signed Amare. Some of you never learn. It's better to miss out than overpay a poor defender who doesn't fit. As much as Dolan gets blasted, he's pretty much the average knick fan.

Point is he didnt play Center at Portland
you need to work with that

NY does not even have a PF, despite Melo playing that 4 spot

if you are Knicks and you want a try at stud LA, you'll need to be flexible from Knicks point of view
is the point.

Center ?
why is that important in NBA East ? or even NBA at this stage
Let the man play 4 spot with minor rare occassion at center, move MELO back to #3 spot

You'd think that wouldn't work ?
where did the Amare -Center and Melo work ?

He struck out.

He thought Chandler had no value, traded him in a contract year and got back a terrible contract. Actually added salary in the deal. F
Hired a rookie coach and paid him like he was elite on a 5 year deal. D
Moved Shumpert and Smith for nothing. Cleveland gave him 10MM and JR opted out of his deal. C -
Affalo - B
Grant - A
Zinger - C. Perception right now is 3 years away and no one is going to play with this kid as of now

JR is insane and would have most likely opted out of him deal. If he didn't he was still $1.5MM cheaper than Affalo. Which i think is a nice deal.

Riley looses Lebron and somehow comes away with a guy we should have drafted an elite pg and is getting a meeting with LA.

No one cares about the ****ing triangle. We don't have draft pick next season so it was important to get assets. Affalo is opting out and gone next season, so we are going back into free agency with the same pitch and no pick.

Wade did them a favor by opting out, giving him a 3year extension on top of what he was scheduled to make was more than "fair"

Now they have some expirings and the depth needed to make a move for another ALL STAR

you make a very good point about the triangle. Ive seen a lot of players say they dont like it. Hell even kobe hated it. Maybe if phil was coaching we would be a little more attractive

Still believe
the Triangle offense to compete toward NBA championship should not be end all for Phil J/Derrick Fisher

This NBA isnt MJordan/Pippen and Shaq /Kobe established to be 100% triangle offense to develop Knick team

That may scare off few FAs as well...
It (triangle offense) aint important right now

KP isnt ready for that big role. Look im still not convinced KP reaches his ceiling but if he ever will then he needs to take things slowly. Build up his body and slowly acclimate himself to the NBA. Its gonna take time
