come on now. these guys want to go to a winning situation.

This is the problem and the solution.
Shitty team like Knicks can only get better from within.
That's why it will take a while.
Even Dolan get it and insisted on Melo to be around for the time of rebuild to guaranty tickets sales for MSG... and suffer for the money he get paid.
More money - more suffering.
And Phil knows surely well this team will not be any good before his contract in NY will expire.
He wants to get GM experience for Dolan money and a lot of fun...
He likes this all NYC balls bouncing.
We know Drama!!!

Stop and take your meds. NY will be dramatically better next year. This constant drone of negativity just gives people a headache and its just short of compulsive obsessive hate speech. Phil is smarter and better than anyone we've had running the ship in 20 years.

We are going to surprise a lot of pundits in a good way.

This what I am talking about... Drama-tically

But there is no drama to be had this year. We'd have to have a run of the table to compete at a high level. This year we we hold our fire until the time is right. Lots of teams are digging their own graves by signing highly speculative talent at high prices - happens every year. I'm glad Phil got the Knicks out of that business.

David West is another guy I'm glad is going elsewhere. I feel good about who we aren't signing.

I agree on this.
I am not pessimistic and I like Knicks to get better from within, draft, and small moves.
In fact it is the only route we have available.
Just do not want to full myself in thinking the team will contend in 1-2 years.
Why to set yourself for disappointment?
If they will get lucky and will get better fast - cool.
If not - this is expected.

For all the guys agreeing on David West you do realize we haven't had a leader since 40yr old Jason Kidd right? How old is West again? This is why GM's don't listen to fans

People complaining about Phil not signing any free agrnts are the same ones who would be starting endless threads killing Phil for over paying Monroe and Afflalo...

I would have liked West her, but if he wants to Win now then good for him He can take his wins now and...
Everyone wants to "win now" its' spreading like ebola in the NBA. Will history later eulogize David West for his role in winning a chip?
No he will be a f***ing footnote on someone's box score - but go ahead and win now

Good riddance

What do we even sell them on?

What is the point of even meeting with LaMarcus? WTH are we going to say to him???!?!?

Hello Mr. Aldridge why don't you come to NY instead of going back home to Texas and playing for perennial championship contenders. I know we don't have kwahi, green, duncan, ginobili, parker but we do have grant, galloway, carmelo and porzingis! What's the point of going to play for a coach that already has such a great name and winning history in Popovich when you can come and help build a name for 2nd year Fisher who doesn't know what to do half the time? You would be silly to live in Texas and take home more after taxes rather than coming to NY and being eaten up by the higher cost of living!

We have absolutely nothing going for us

Our "star" player has a messed up rotator cuff and is coming off of knee surgery

We have no second scorer

We're not even up to the standards of JJ Barea - he won't even consider us.

We don't even have a draft pick next year

What now... what the hell do we do now?!!??!?

Yes your right. You should definitely go root for the Nets! Did you really expect to get any of the recently signed players? Most will use other teams to get max deals from current teams and others will get over paid from sucker GMs. Glad we are not the suckers. Trust the time it takes to truly rebuild. Knee jerk signings is what got us into trouble. The only guy worth paying for and truly available is Aldridge but he wants to win now so don't think he is coming. Unless Phil pulls one out of his triangle arse.

Yeah but 16 months into Phil's contract the best veteran he's added might be Jose Calderon. That's scary.

The best move Phil has made is not blow the salary cap money and over pay just because....think Dumars spending his wad on Charlie V and Josh Smith and othet retreads...Phils restrant has been his best move thus far...

We should just try to sign

Greg Monroe or LA or Jordan, asking 2 slight discounts if possible in order to compete this upcoming season

both of which would be 4year deals with team options, for 1 of them, possibly 2year deals with 1 player option *though we would not own bird rights*
But we would reward them with another contract after 3 years when we get their bird rights

Personally I think having Dolan to show his support and give his word and give Phil Jackson full support would make a HUGE difference
Taking care of them for them to retire as Knicks and life after basketball, along with doing whatever would help their "branding" along with using MSG channels to help promote them

Either trade Calderon/Early or stretch Calderon
Use early bird rights to resign 2year deal team option on the MAX possible with first year guaranteed for Cole Aldrich so we can have the FULL MLE

If Clippers want a 1st rounder, they get one if they take Calderon's contract to go with some junk/Svhed, Early, AB *in a sign and trade*, and fill ins if needed

Use most of it for Wesley Johnson to a cap friendly contract, sign Thanasis to 3year deal about 1m starting salary

Call it a night

Finish our roster with vet mins, D League callups, and Summer League callups
Then next year go for lesser talents to fill out roster and NOT max contracts, like Battum, Gallo/Wilson Chandler, and then another MAX target 2 seasons down when Westbrook is a UFA

If we are going to run the Triangle you are going to have to build chemistry with the talent/core that we will to develop chemistry which takes time, in which KP will be able to fill in for a couple positions

Jeremy Evans or another versatile/athletic/LONG defender to a 2year vet min deal

It is better to suck and be way under the cap, than suck and be weighted down by mediocre players on bloated immovable contracts. Say no more to the Layden-Thomas years.

So far no one has rejected our money. A lot of the better player have refused to entertain leaving their teams. Knick fans bit(# about how players use us as bargaining chips. This year that hasn't happened. So now we are bitching about why they aren't doing that.

The real problem isn't the money. They don't want to come to 17 win team with an injured ball hog known for not sharing. If that doesn't meet with your expectations. .sorry.

I can even read this whole thread. It was the first day and the large majority of deals were re-signs. People need to relax.

The lack of patience among the Knicks Fan Base is legendary. It borders on psychotic the way people panic and fear the worst. Right now there's still a chance we can land the players we want. Today is off to a good start. Hope we have even more good news today.

We need to find another Mozgov. A Euro free agent big that can be had for like 4mil. With our ability to offer playing time at the moment we could probably lure someone. Who follows Euroleage? what free agents are available?
