plus we have no picks next year and we may not even fill out the roster with lower tier free agents

Phil has at least stashed players so that we will have new talent to bring in next year. It's a bit overstated when you look at how many young prospects he's got in the pipeline. We've got as many prospects in the pipeline as a team like Philly. Also Phil hasn't pulled the trigger on any of his foreign targets yet.

thats fine BUT that doesnt change the fact that we will miss out on a high first rounder unless phil can get a pick back

How do you know the Knicks will be in the lottery?

similarly, we will miss out on 2 first rounders if phil doesn't get 2 picks back

I'd bet if you were to ask all GMs now "If you could steal any one team's 2016 pick, who would you take" we come out very high on that list - probably even first place.

Nah, we'd probably come in second behind Philly.

Well that's reassuring! Still, they finished a game ahead of us and added Okafor. So I'm not so sure about that.

Hmm, that's true but Philly is probably still going to try to lose again next season so they won't win 2 meaningless games at the end of the season and **** up their draft position.

It stands for Value over Replacement. It's the number of points per 100 possessions that the player contributes above a replacement level player. Note replacement level doesn't mean average. It means bad.

Value Over Replacement Player. It's supposed to judge how many points a player is worth versus a JAG. I think a replacement player is measured as -2 points.

I saw that but was confused by it. Does that mean if your VORP is -1.9 that you're 0.1 better than a replacement player or 1.9 worse than one?

Yeah, a high number is definitely good and a negative number is bad.

Yeah, reading it I'm confused also. The wording isn't clear but it seems to be saying that a -1.9 VORP means a player cost their team -3.9 points.

Wow, looking at the list from last season. We had 3 players in the bottom 7 of VORP, 4 in the bottom 14, and 5 in the bottom 30. That's amazing.

i wouldn't mind either bass or bellineli on shorter deals.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Phil still has some options on the WS48 list. It's growing smaller but there is a glut of decent bigs who could help this team.
