Hell NO to Affalo, he had a HORRIBLE year last season, and he is approaching 30, in which MANY NBA talents are unable to adjust as they physical decline
He is an undersized SF, and with a loss of a step, ability to jump, along with loss of speed/quickness it could affect his game
Very surprised he opted out of his contract, he should fire his agent if he didn't warn him...
Players like AK47, Ron Artest, Raymond Felton, Steph Marbury, Ben Gordon, along with MANY talents simply can not adjust, as the 82 game a season + play offs (he was part of Detroit Pistons and Nuggets years as well)
I watched him play in Denver and Portland, because he had a great year in Orlando before this year, in fact his career best, though it didn't translate to a Playoff team, despite being in the WEAK EAST
Though there were a lot of other injuries/lack of talent as well, at best a 1year stop gap player if we can not find talents to recruit with CA's big black book
IF CA was a FA and was willing to take less this year, I have no doubts that we would be able to sign 2 other ALL STAR or at least 2nd tier guys like Greg Monroe to play with him and a bit more
He simply isn't a franchise talent but he did what was best for him and he shouldn't upset if he can not recruit FREE AGENTS
If he took less I think
Greg Monroe at Center
LA at PF/C
CA at SF/PF
is what we would be looking at and with CA taking a real discount than what he got...
He simply is not anywhere near Lebron status that he THINKS he is, closer to Monta Ellis's status....
What part of CA's is dominant? and what part does he make his team mates better? It is myth
Unless CA develops the turn around jump shot to the baseline with counters like Jordan once mastered, he needs a GOTO MOVE in which our OFF rebounders/team mates can time to get the OFF REBOUND
No ONE knows when he will shoot or how he will score, only that he will shoot in which our opponents can camp to get the DEFENSIVE rebound and anticipate pushing already for the fast break if he misses, more importantly the defense isn't working as the other 4 people are resting/playing half ass defense/and the passing lanes, as he doesn't need to be double teamed....
While at the very least, Monta Ellis's ability to penetrate/finish opens things up for his team mates but he is approaching an age where he will physically decline....
And Ellis gets to the FT line, where as CA's trips shoots more also because he shoots our FT's for technicals, violations, etc... even when we have a HIGHER FT % shooter on the floor with him, even when he is struggling, another way in which his stats could be manipulated
CA learned from a early time that STATS could be manipulated and took FULL ADVANTAGE of it, a reason he did not want Lin here, as he was already planning to OPT out then already for his NEW CONTRACT
He didn't care as others struggled as long as he got his, heading in to his negatations, however, is he seriously thinking about the NEXT OPT OUT as well?
Even when EVERYONE on the entire team knew Woodson's system doesn't work and is failed recipe, whether OFF or DEF, it did not bother CA, as he got to put up 30 shots, but would Iman still be getting 10m a year offer if Woodson stayed and he wasn't traded?
Would JR Smith even OPT out this summer had he not been traded and got some confidence as he put up some solid games as a starter in Cleveland when Iman was hurt?
Honestly,
I do not think Phil Jackson even wanted him, but had orders to keep him from his boss as Dolan forced the trade and gave up too many assets to let him walk for nothing just like Cleveland gave up too many assets for Kevin Love to let him walk away for nothing...
And with the comments that PHil Jackson said about contracts, shoe deals, building their brand, it was a direct blow to CA, which was EVERYTHING CA has said all summed up to one statement of what Phil was NOT looking for to run the Triangle...
