FYI, it will almost certainly take a max offer to sign Jordan and his max starts at $20M.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Despite an elite backcourt, Warriors won with an average front line.

DJ, Melo and a serviceable young KP works.

Max for him is the supermax though, right? Same as Melo?
I'd still do it.

If you coverted melo to a 3&d it might be championship caliber. Not fond of the fact that Melo's opinions are public, even if I agree from his perspective on the draft pick

Would this mean that Phil put out feelers, or is Jordan initiating things? Teams always have a way of using the Knicks for more $$.

Won't lie- I would be surprised if we took him given our offense and the way he plays, but maybe there are things in his game that they've repressed over there.

Have any of you ever seen any kind of midrange from him?

Earlier in the day Brown was talking about how the pick and roll has destroyed the multitalented center in this country and that's why the Euro bigs are attractive options for some teams. DJ has lived off this.

Someone has an "In Phil We Trust" sig, so I have to believe that he will make the right decision.

Maybe Jordan can convince Phil that he's another Willis Reed.

He would solve a lot of rebounding and shot blocking issues, though.

Why would Phil pay top dollars to D Jordan who is a terrible offensive player; specifically when he could have easily acquire Stein and another big for far less then what Jordan is asking for?
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Because Jordan is a battle tested player in the NBA and Stein is not??

Not saying I'm necessarily in love with Jordan- I've said many times that I did not think he was a fit in the Triangle, but everyone is whining about not taken Mudiay and Winslow, who have MUCH less experience than Porzingis, and Stein, who never was more than a one dimensional player in 3 years of college, but now you're telling me that Porzingis and Jordan would not be a better fit than Jordan and Stein, or Stein and Monroe- both foolish ideas that would have killed the spread on our offense?

Heard someone on the radio, this morning (Russillo,I think) who said Stein might have dropped into the low teens if the Kings had not taken him because he's one dimensional and might be damaged goods. Heard today that the Kings taking Stein was done for Cousins, and nobody else- their way of saying that we want you to stay.

Nobody said we are actually getting Jordan, anyway, but why not see what Jackson can do before beating people over the head with the same stuff over and over again.

You know what you are getting in Jordan and the past couple of years he seems to come back more athletic and stronger
The experience that he has on DEFENSE and impact is a GIVEN, he doesn't need a scoutting report on how to DEFENSE and PLAY HELP DEFENSE

When Blake Griffen went out, he actually took a better step forward in terms of the OFFENSIVE LOAD, while able to play major minutes for much of the year
He is in FANTASTIC shape and is obviously has a great work out regime/program both during the season and in the summer, with RARE injuries

While he does need to work on his FT's %, he has improved his form a lot and really would not surprise me if he dedicated this summer to shooting upwards of 60%
Tim Duncan has not been exactly a very good FT shooter for most of his career as well, as well as Shaq...

While KP has the chance to BE AN ALL STAR one day, making him untradeable, especially if he develops sooner, like by year 2-3
Because while he is on a rookie deal, you can pair him up with OTHER ALL STAR's, and we have the ability to pay TAXES if needed with Dolan's deep pockets

D. Jordan is only 26, becoming 27, so he is still in his prime
While he is a 8year pro already, his first 2 seasons he played limited roles, behind Chris Kaman, Camby, and Blake Griffen, maybe even Elton Brand at one point...

He also does have one of the highest FG % in the entire league and during the stretch that Blake Griffen was out, was capable of putting up numbers on OFF and DEFENSE
If he does sign with Knick's, he will get a bigger role he desires, and not just the garbage/dirty work guy that he is on the Clippers

Phil Jackson would be true to his word if he is able to sign Jordan and another G/F like Danny Green/Wesley Matthews, with each taking a slight discount
With Danny Green, if SA signs LA, unless Green takes a HUGE discount, like MLE like money, he could be the odd man out

We could still have the FULL MLE in play as well if we resign Cole ALdrich or Acey with their low cap holds and early bird rights/bird rights, even if we CUT THEM right after with partial guarantees, giving them free money and the ability to sign elsewhere immediately

If we want to build of winning cultures, then we will need at least GOOD DEFENSE/REBOUNDING, along with players that have consistently been there and are use to winning and with the ability to come back even when they are down, especially within play offs series/games

If we got DeAndre, it would allow Porzingis to play and not have to worry about getting pushed around.

In fact, with that length up front at the 4 & 5, we'd have a much better defense.

I feel like DeAndre would be worth 10 wins- and figure another 10 with Melo healthy, and we're right there in the thick of it for the last spot.

For what Jordan can do, I am not willing to pay max money for. If he were a good freethrow shooter, I would be more then happy to have him. He is a true liability and not worth the money he is seeking

Although I do not believe he is serious about NY, with the pick we just made, he is exactly what the Knicks need right now but man...his inability to hit a free throw really worries me.

Monroe at the max is way better than jordan at the max for the money.

Disagree completely. Jordan is a game changer for this team. I don't think he would seriously come here, but if he did we would instantly be top 4 contenders in the East.

Very good question. Seems like a lot to pay for what WCS would have brought very cheaply, in a couple of years.

I think both of you guys are taking it too far. D Jordan is better for the knicks than Monroe because they need his defense to anchor a team lacking defenders. Monroe on his 15 a year max is the better player on a better deal but the knicks can't slot him into what they are doing now. Monroe would of been PERFECT if they had got Towns in the draft but they didn't. If they can pull a D Jordan and David West front court with KP as KP grows it could be a major step towards making the playoffs next year and could provide KP veteran cover as he matures.

Also the Knicks have a real chance at him if the rumor he wants to be an all star is true. All the other suitors for him are in the Western conference. Whereas if he comes out East he legitimately has a chance to be the best center in the entire Conference and the Knicks would be one of the few teams out there who would want him to take a bigger spot in the offense since the triange requires it.

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

If it's a max deal I'll take Deandre over Monroe but I feel like he will hurt the triangle if we're so committed to it. I would rather give Monroe 10 mill per than max out DJ but we probably have to break the bank for either one.

It's the same thing.

Love or hate Melo, this is beyond blown out of proportion. If you don't think he wants good players here your either really stupid or completely insane.

This, completely.

I tend to agree. $20mm per is an awful lot of money to commit to an offensively-challenged Deandre Jordan, man. Just sayin'. I respect what he brings to the table, don't get me wrong--dude's a fantastic rebounder and a good rim protector--but for that type of money, go get me a star not a role player, no? I think we could piece together pretty much what Jordan does with several savvy, low-cost signings. Picture a team of Melo/Jordan taking up 65% of the cap or more -- is that team championship caliber? I understand the cap is supposed to rise but still...I dunno -- then again, what the man does he does extremely well and he's still fairly young..
