I see Kaminsky becoming a Mike Miller type of bench player in 5 years.

WCS could play in this finals. He's got more offensive game than Tristan. It's not like he's too slow and it's not about one guy. What will matter most is who else is on the Knicks roster and how they play as a unit.

Another thing, can we just get to decent 1st before worrying about a Finals matchup??? Geez! BRIGGS is skipping a lot of steps here. We've got a lot of work to do before this team can be concerned with facing a top team in the Finals. Let's see what the team looks like next season first.

Kaminsky will average a career high 11ppg coming off the bench for the Boston Celtics in the 2019-20 season. He will then retire from the league to join doctors without borders, feeling he can do more good there. Stein will start for an NBA finals team someday and win at least one defensive player of the year award. I can, you know, see it.

Kaminsky is a decent player.....but because briggs worship this kid makes me look at his negatives.

But i believe both would be in the game. .....until they use green in pick and rolls.....Kaminsky will get exposed. Briggs is trying to discredit stein. ...and you don't realize you are actually helping him. He's the only big that can play small ball or big ball.

All of your favorite players would be on the bench.

Well this has been beaten to death, but still I see Kaminsky's floor as Ilysova/Ryan Anderson, which would be a complete bust but not a bad rotational player. I think his skills are much more refined and he's a very high IQ player. I'm not sure I see Dirk though. He's an extremely rare breed.

I love Kaminsky...more than most, but during the game I want to let sleeping dogs lie.

I'm actually with you on this. I'm a big fan of Kaminsky and would love to have him playing on the Knicks but I think there are a couple players I'd rather have if we use our pick at 4. If we trade down some spots then I'm all for Frankie. I love his offensive game and don't think he'd be horrible on defense but not at 4.

Hahahahaha I knew you'd find an answer for that although it's the wrong answer. The answer is nobody. He couldn't guard Green on his best day.

there is no way kaminsky can guard draymond green... he'd get destroyed like mozzy on defense by the quicker green.

yesterday's game started out like this...
1 layup steph
1 layup klay
3 dunks green

for the first 10 points... Mozzy played less than 10 mins.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

I see a better player that Miller. How but a Ryan Anderson type?? I think that's a good comparison for him cause when healthy Anderson has been a good player.

I like Kaminsky as a solid rotational player on a playoff team. I just don't think he has enough lateral quickness and strength to be a star - I don't think he's athletic enough to cover Green and other mobile bigs. At his best, I see a poor man's Pau Gasol or for any old-timers, I see Alvin Adams (Phoenix). His value would depend on the type of team and structure that picks him. Same as Stein - but with different skill sets.

So you're a "Chronic 'Contrarian'?"

Been there, and do it around here, too, but its sometimes hard to convey sarcasm in a post, and folks are a bit touchy at times, myself included.

Mentioned this in other posts... I would spend little time looking at his offense, I consider him to be the most versatile big man in the draft.

They should drill him to death, defensively, though. Have to think that this is something they will concentrate on today or tomorrow.

Interesting comparison with Alvin Adams, by the way. Adams had little range on his J compared to Kaminsky (checked it out-never hit a 3), but he was a very good all around player, and a nice passer. He was also shorter, but I can see some similarities.

Phil would be pretty happy with an Adams type player in the triangle, especially as a passer and midrange shooter.

I think Kaminsky is fine in the triangle, and his shooting range give you some added flexibility.

So talk to me about the college careers of Kwame Brown and Tyson Chandler.

What kind of showing did they make post-HS and pre-pro?

Curious minds are just dying to know.

http://journaltimes.com/sports/basketball/bucks-beat-icons-shower-praise-on-kaminsky/article_3f5fb7dd-a23a-5844-81ef-87f227c6dcf2.html
Bird, not one prone to hyperbole, fairly gushes about Kaminsky and the stunning growth he’s exhibited from his freshman year at Wisconsin when he averaged 1.8 points and 1.4 rebounds a game to his senior year when he averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.
“We have seen him play a number of times; we followed his career,’’ Bird said. “He’s a hell of a player. He’s come a long way in two years.
“I’m pretty proud of him for the work he has put it. It looks like the type of kid who is going to keep working and get better.’’
Asked to expound on Kaminsky’s game, Bird said, “He has a good, all-around game. He doesn’t play at a fast pace, but he can get what he wants to get.

“He shoots it good enough to set guys up. And, on the defensive end, he’s long. He’s a presence.’’

Bird is among numerous NBA officials who believe Kaminsky is a slam dunk to be a lottery selection – one of the first 14 players drafted.

While Sam Presti, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s general manager who drafted superstars Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Hardin, didn’t venture a guess as to where Kaminsky will be drafted, he conceded he is a big fan of Kaminsky.

I asked Presti what, in particular, makes Kaminsky a coveted player.

“The thing about Frank Kaminsky is that he has evolved as a player,’’ Presti said. “He played with a ton of passion for his school, for his state. And he really stuck to who he is.

“The way the game is going, having someone who is so skilled, who can make other people better from that position is not a common thing.’’

Another member of the Kaminsky fan club is Lionel Hollins. Hollins, the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, knows a good big man when he sees one, having played with Bill Walton on the 1977 NBA championship Portland Trail Blazers.

I asked Hollins to give me his take on Kaminsky.

“I like Frank Kaminsky,’’ Hollins said. “He has long arms and he’s got good size. He can post up and he can shoot outside. He can pass. Great basketball IQ.’’

Hollins said Kaminsky’s versatility also serves him well, noting how Kaminsky has the abilities to play center and power forward.

“I think he’ll be a little of both, a four and a five,’’ Hollins said. “He’s probably going to be a little bit like Pau Gasol (of the Chicago Bulls), where he’s more of a four than a five.

“But against the right teams, he’ll be able to play five. Having a big guy who can step out and make shots opens the court for your other guys to penetrate and post up.

“And, when you’re in pick-and-rolls, he can create problems. You can run pick-and-rolls with the other bigs and he can either pop or roll.

“I think Kaminsky’s game certainly translates well to our game. Now it’s a matter of how much will he has and toughness he has to deal with the grind that is the NBA.’’

Is Porzingis upside on the level of where Kaminsky is at now? Grading somebody on potential alone is a dangerous game to play. And saying Kaminsky has already reached his ceiling is also crazy. Kaminsky still has upside, if he is self driven and wants to be one of the greatest players to play the game. Thats whats going to separate these draft picks. It doens't matter where they are at right now, if they don't have that passion.

Kaminsky has potential....But I think he needs to be the focal point to reach that Nowitzki potential. Melo and Phils triangle will slow down the development of most rookies, especially when they need the ball to show their real value. But for players that can impact a game without having any offensive plays run for them, will suceed in this current environment. I don't think Kaminsky will succeed with this current knick team and management team. But I've been wrong before. If we pick him, I hope I am wrong. I still like those intangle guys like Winslow and Stein.....and think Mudiay has that drive to want to be the best PG in the draft and in the NBA. I think Russell is driven as well.

This is probably the first draft in a while with players that are self driven to be great, with maturity to not allow money to derail them.
