Media is going to kill us.

You're assumption is that WCS isn't the best player among that group. Perhaps you are wrong. If Phil drafts WCS it could well be because he feels he's the best player. It's not an easy thing to compare prospects and make that determination. The popular move is to value offensive takent over defensive talent. That isn't necessarily true but people tend to take that stance.

IMO WCS on defense alone is a lottery pick. If he continues to show offensive potential that makes him an even better prospect. He's not a zero offensively. There is talent there that he just needs to develop. He's putting in the work and is looking better. Phil will get to test for himself soon.

If Phil thinks stein is the boa at 4 I suggest he rewind some ncaa tourney games. Stein is a workout warrior who will be exposed for his lack of feel for the game his weak base and an over rated sentiment that stein will be a dominant force in the paint

I read something today that said Philly would still take OK4 if he was there at 3 if Russell was gone and use him as trade bait which i could absolutely see Hinkie doing.

It was Berman who said that, so you can disregard it

Yep. He also said Stein is a sophomore in the same article. He is a hack.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

Waiting for the drywall compound to dry out upstairs...

Nixluva- there is not a single GM in the NBA, or the world, I would think, would take Stein over Porzingis if they were building a team through the draft. If Phil takes Stein, it will be because he is physically more advanced, and there is a time table because of Anthony's age.

If we had our pick next year, and Anthony was not on this team, it is simply inconceivable that we would take Stein over Porzingis. If OK4 is there, he will take him because he might have the best post game since Duncan was drafted, and then he'll pick up a long lanky defender to help out on D. Monroe will probably not be signed if we get OK4, IMO- would make little sense.

I feel like a kid piling on Stein, here, but its totally annoying when people are unwilling believe that a player they are not supporting cannot evolve, while the one they like, can. I think it is easier for an athletic player, who already understands how to play defense, to become a better defender. Skillwise, I see it as much more difficult for a player who is a good defender, but has shown only a primitive offensive game, to significantly improve his game. I suppose I could be wrong, but...

NOBODY on this forum has yet to show me a 7' player considered offensively challenged who made drastic improvements to their game once in the NBA.

Also have to say that if you look at Stein's 3 years and the NCAA tournament, you'll find that...

Year one, KU did not even make the tournament, despite some talent.

Year two (reached finals), he had 2 PTS/8REB/4BLK/4ST in the first round, 4pts 2R, 1blk in the big Wichita State game, and he got hurt in the 1st 4 minutes against Louisville. KU beat Louisville, Michigan, and Wisconsin, without him, and lost a tight game to UConn.

Year 3 (reached Semi-finals), He averaged about 6.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 2+ BPG, but against ND and Wis, his final two games, he averaged 4 PPG, 4+RPG, and 2 BPG, and did not have a single FT attempt, after 5 attempts/game his first 3 games.

Now I could be wrong, because I'm getting older and my thinking is fogged up, but the best tournament result KU actually had during Stein's 3 years was when he was out with an injury.

Of the 3 bigs I like, Porzingus has best potential to be an excellent defender, Kaminsky showed ability in college, although he doesn't have the quickness or length of Stein or Porzingis, and I would want to see him more on the perimeter, and OK4 is still physically immature, IMO, but has better length than Stein, although he needs work on D.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

If pj takes stein over porzingis. No excuses no I want to win now shot by the time ny is ready to really do anything porzingis will be the best knock on the court . Does it make a scintilla of sense to bet 17 years against maybe 1? Nope Phil should do what right and take the boa and if porzingis is there he IS
