JR game is what needs attention, not a toy.
Cavs got to the playoffs with a good balanced roster. NObody disputes JR's talent.
Then Love went down and Mozzy/Tristen stepped up. Kyrie then went down and JR step up his game?
No, he is wilting under the bright lights. Cavs are not in the finals because of JR smith.
Shump is playing up to what Shump plays to. This is what JR does. Either suspended, parties, or stinks it up. He don't step up.
His play, not his smile, hair cut, tweets, young money, ass, or toy should emerge.
Holfresh, JR strikes me a guy who has self esteem problems and only has basketball to keep him up. Self sabatage puts him in a place where he feels he belongs.
First and formost is the play on the court. As a knick fan I took the guy for what he does on the court and marveled at his talent. I saw a kid with a world of talent who instead of taking on the challange of college basketball succumb to the easy path and seemed to find a comfort zone of being immature and thats ok reason. Dude is not young anymore and to some extent instead of focusing being professional and evolving as a player he prefers to keep the "live in the moment" thing and act the fool.
What he does off the court is his business. He wants to kill his friends, play golf, do a golf charity and feel good about it, give his family his money, party, get high, and tweet, I could care less.
But on the court is when it counts. And when you do work as a team to advance and everyone is giving it everything they got and your sucking it up on the court, bringing a toy to the arena to deflect from that is what an immature young man would do.
When Rodman would act like a fool off the court it got him a lot of attention but on the court the dude was not just a great teamate, but he performed! Jr can fly in on a jetpack for all I care as long as he does his job.
