KP: I love how Anthony Davis plays. I have a lot of work to do to get close to his level. I try to learn from him. He’s playing incredible right now. He’s one of the guys I look up to. I would love to play against him. He’s going to be really hard to guard, but I’m really looking forward to playing against him.

A few guys went over there with Gaines. Even S.Mills went over there but he wasn't there as long as Gaines and his team of a couple of guys were.

I never heard any scuttlebutt about these trips. Phil is doing his due diligence even if he's not there in person. You have sources on the trips they made?

Gaines seems to be his man in terms of scouting...we should try to check on his travel itinerary over the last 4 months.

Wonder what other things are being hidden from the rest of the world.

Please no. This guy has too much Tskitisvili in him. I'd even take Mudiay over this dude at 4.

How do you even begin to quantify this?

They call it the "Weissterreur," in some circles, and it means the fear of any 7'+ light skinned European BB player the Knicks might be interested in.

yea i've seen him play... his shot looks good.. he's gangly and he has good length... and he can catch an alley oop... but that's really about it... there's a lot of instances where you just shake your head if you move past the highlight vids.. he's not instinctual or fluid at all which leads me to believe he'll have a hard time developing...

the numbers tell the same story... he's not a good rebounder and a horrible passer... and he doesn't block shots to the point where you can depend on him protecting the rim so he's not a center...

in sum.. he's an ok stretch 4 type... which is basically bargnani.. and bargnani had better shooting numbers coming out...

his best hope is that he packs on more weight and becomes a true center.. but how long is that gonna take? 3 years maybe? and then he has to develop center skills which who knows if that is ever gonna happen...

it's a lot safer to assume that he's gonna be something like bargnani since it's a decent comp.. same age.. same measurables.. same numbers... roughly the same league... and bargnani when healthy is a decent player but he's not this incredible talent everyone thought he was... assuming stardom without the evidence is a common mistake with international prospects... ppl fill in the unknowns with the best case scenario and it rarely works that way...

Most of it is their irrational fear...Weissterreur, but detractors also have Darko and Bargs to look at.

For some very strange reason people don't look at guys like the Gasol brothers, Donatas Motiejunas, Jonas Valanciunas, Bogut, Nikola Mirotic, Gallinari (Yup, I said it), Steven Adams, Jusuf Nurkic, Timofey Mosgov (remember him?), Marcin Gortat, Nikola Pekovic, and others who I am too lazy to find. Seem to recall that all of them are lareger players who came out of Europe.

There are booms and busts no matter where a player is coming from. You do your due diligence and hope that you evaluate correctly.

Got to trust Jackson and his scouts, but this kid has had a lot of followers in the scouting world and amongst GMs, who have a lot more to gain or lose than any of us if they decide to take him and he's a bust. There were teams willing to take him in the middle of the first last year.

Has to be given an honest look. Needs work in some areas, but he's played the game his entire life and as I said in another post, both parents played the game, and his brother was a pro in Europe, too.

Very foolish (could say something more insulting- but won't) to dismiss him without an honest look, and it would seem that Jackson is giving him an honest look if he sent the scout he trusts most over there.

No matter what team he ends up on, I certainly hope his career is not anything remotely close to Danilo Gallinari's.

There's absolutely no way to quantify it. It's an irrational fear, a queasy premonition prodded by the Knicks mostly horrendous draft history in general (NeNe for McDyess, John Wallaxe and Dante Jones, Sweetney and all the rest) combined with Porzingis looking similar to Maciaj Lampe, Fred Weiss, and even ****in' Bargs.

Knicks will see Porzingis on Friday: The Knicks will be among many NBA teams in Las Vegas on Friday to watch Kristaps Porzingis work out, a league source told ESPN.com's Ian Begley.

The ASM Sports group -- one of the biggest sports agencies in the NBA, headed by agent Andy Miller -- will host a workout for Porzingis and several other prospects, including Texas' Myles Turner and LSU's Jarell Martin.

Most NBA teams will attend the workout.
