Whenever I here championships being mentioned, I think of Bill Russell.
Some "young'uns" either don't know the history of the game, or conveniently refuse to think about anything earlier than their own existence.
Bill Russell holds the record for the most NBA championships won with 11 titles during his 13-year playing career.
Russell is one of only seven players in history to achieve basketball's "Triple Crown" - winning an NCAA Championship, an NBA Championship, and an Olympic Gold Medal
He also was player coach on a championship team.
Russell led USF to NCAA championships in 1955 and 1956, including a string of 55 consecutive victories.
Russell helped the national team win the gold medal in Melbourne, defeating the Soviet Union 89–55 in the final game. The United States dominated the tournament, winning by an average of 53.5 points per game.
