Im not comparing him to anyone but dont underestimate a highly skilled basketball player who has an edge with a thinking man becasue he cant jump through the ceiling. Larry Bird is as tough as a player as it gets--Kaminsky isnt on that level but he is tough for the league now.

Stay away from Kaminski.

We don't need another Jason Smith.

Larry Bird had guard like agility similar to steins defensive agility. These are big guys that move like guards....we already have two players like kaminsky in bargs and jason smith. And im not sure hes better than those two at the nba level.....

Thought Kaminsky looked as pro ready in the tournament as anyone else. He raises the energy level of a team as well. I wouldnt mind he if was picked.

I agree....I just like to give Briggs a hard time because he's so pro Kaminsky and cons WCS.

I'm probably the only one that sees value in both, even though I prefer WCS.

http://www.designntrend.com/articles/54034/20150611/knicks-draft-rumors-trade-down-pick-kaminsky-payne-johnson.htm

The New York Knicks are in quite a predicament.

After a disastrous 17-65 season, New York failed to secure a top-three pick in the upcoming NBA Draft—an even bigger disappointment to a fan base hoping to at least see their team rewarded with one of the draft's elite players.

While there's little argument that either Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor or D'Angelo Russell would have fit in nicely in New York, the Knicks will now be left with a group of players who are either poor fits for the team's triangle offense or are potential reaches when they make their selection with the fourth pick.

Considering this, rumors have been circulating that GM Phil Jackson is considering a trade down—especially in light of the players the team recently worked out.

While ESPN's Chad Ford recently noted that New York's best option is to stay at four and select Emmanuel Mudiay, the former top-rated high school star who played in China last season, the Knicks' triangle offense may not be best-suited for his game. With Mudiay it really all depends on two things: NY's willingness to adjust their offense to his skillset and to take a chance on an unproven talent. If they're fine with making both of those choices, he'll be a Knick.

That said, these factors may present too much of a risk for New York—leaving Duke's Justise Winslow and Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein as their next-best choices. While both players would be solid selections, it can be argued that both would be reaches at four given Cauley-Stein's raw offensive game and the Knicks' more prevalent needs for a point guard or big man (rather than another forward like Winslow).

So where would this leave New York? It's certainly not easy to tell.

There are endless possibilities for the Knicks depending on their player grades and opportunities to trade down—we won't know for sure what they're up to until draft night.

Should New York find a trade partner, their selection will also depend on where they land. The Boston Celtics are a team that has been tabbed as a candidate to move up, but if New York were to take back Boston's selection, they wouldn't pick until 16th—not exactly a spot where you expect to find future All-Stars. With this pick, New York's best options could be Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky, Murray State's Cameron Payne or Arizona's Stanley Johnson—all of whom were worked out or will be worked out by the Knicks this week.

As much of a letdown as this might be for Knicks fans, it could be the franchise's best move if they don't want to reach at four—especially if they could acquire a proven player in the trade, as well.

Regardless of which direction they take, one thing is for certain: there is a lot of pressure on New York to make the right choice.

Wow, I just went to sportsreference.com. You know that Kaminsky won all of these player of the year awards:
AP Player of the Year, NABC Player of the Year, Naismith Award Winner, Wooden Award Winner, Sporting News Player of the Year, and USBA/Oscar Robertson Player of the Year

These awards don't translate into the NBA very well

Maybe we can get this Oscar Robertson guy to play with us...any chance of that?

Even more, Kaminsky, at 22 years old, has shown flashes that he has not tapped out his potential.

Though Kaminsky, who would prefer to play the face-up four position in the NBA, did not take part in the NBA combine drills and athleticism measurements, he has undergone similar testing by his agency while working out in Santa Barbara, Calif. Over a span of five weeks, Kaminsky has increased his vertical leap to a little over 33 inches, an improvement of four inches. Also, Kaminsky has trimmed three-tenths of a second from his pro agility which now compares favorably to the average NBA power forward and center.

I missed this in Kaminsky's scouting report on draftnet. It is under weaknesses:
Theoretically he is the perfect guy to play in the triangle offense, in a way that maybe only Pau Gasol did, and certainly he could find his place an offense like the Spurs (every high IQ player could)

What I don't really understand, is he looks great in his highlight vids, he has great numbers, but he seems to be ranked pretty low in mock drafts- is it just the lack of athleticism?

I do see him as being on par with Mirotic (who is nice), but we need more than that from this pick

Would be stunningly foolish judgement on the part of some teams if he fell that far, and if he was there at 19, Pops would try to trade up from 26 for him and would be dancing like Kaminsky is in the training video after they picked him.

For a player with a blue chip pedigree in college and a more complete and flexible skills set than any big man in the draft, some folks are really overlooking what he could do for a team.

Strange world we live in.

i figure most of these websites are basically of the same ilk as fantasy leagues. hard to take them seriously since the contributors are likely no better at insightful analysis and projection than you are i. in fact it's a given.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
