We can't be happy about the prospect of getting a top 5 player in the draft which has good players thru the top 5. We can't be happy that we have enough cap space to add a few quality starters. Somehow they want all of us to accept that the team isn't going to be worth rooting for since we won't be a title contender next year. We are the 2nd worst team in the league!!! How about we just see the team get to GOOD? How about we start the process of the team and franchise as a whole establish a solid foundation we can build on for the future? The going cliche is that you can't rebuild in NY and with some of the posters on this forum you can see why it's been so hard. This is the closest we've come to a full rebuild and still they aren't happy. If anything our chances of rebounding more quickly are better because it wasn't a complete rebuild from scratch.
Also the process of laying the foundation has already started, but they fail to recognize or accept that. The Westchester Knicks is a huge move for this franchise and as they continue to bring in more talent that farm team should improve and with them running the same system that should in time produce even better prospects for the NBA team. We've already seen them using the W Knicks to develop players and it will get better with time. It will be very interesting to see the new young prospects they bring in this summer.
the fans have nothing to do with why it is hard to rebuild in new york. if the owner was not such a self-entitled, spoiled, drunken, craven, greedy, incompetent, interfering lowlife the knicks would have been rebuilt years and years ago.
just look at the list of dubious characters <doh>lan has brought in: you are not going to succeed with scott layden, isaiah thomas, marbury, houston, mills, and anthony.
you aren't a typically stupid fan who likes to chant "mvp! mvp!" when kobe bryant visits the garden. you actually have some valid insights into the sport itself. where you have erred is in your irrational exuberance concerning the future, although here you are attenuating a bit by saying "let's get to good first." i agree with that.
that said, i will maintain that character = destiny, and i wonder how closely every potential acquisition will be vetted for character, which includes arriving in tip top shape and not overweight, willing to go hard on the defensive end, someone who can "get over himself" as popovich has stated, someone who takes responsibility for when things go wrong and is vocal about it, and shares the ball, is coachable, and plays the game the right way.
in other words it isn't merely about talent.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
