Problem with OK4 and Towns is that the league has changed, with stretch 4's, which makes OK4/Towns a Center by default
Yes they can play stretches at the 4 but not majority of the minutes, a reason why Andre Drummond/Greg Monroe didn't work well together, especially with Josh Smith
So according to some of lineups that Briggs has suggested, line CA at the SG, it isn't actual an advantage to have the size over the opponents if they were unable to defend those positions and provide the floor spacing to stretch the floor for 1v1 opportunities and the room to operate
I would much rather spend the money on Ajincia and then look to acquire Whiteside next summer along with other FA's
While grabbing some of the guards in this draft like
Towns/OK4
Justice Winslow/Russell
Mudiay
Mario Henzoja
So even if we got the 1st or 2nd overall pick and we traded down with teams overpaying to move up which Phil Jackson is trying to do and has been hinting off
Now we can still use a future 1st rounder or assets if we traded CA to move up with the 2nd pick, so we can very possibly get 2 TOP 10 talents, while any of these TOP 6 will be available at 6
What if we managed to get 2 of these players above in the process? or even some lower ranked players such as
Frank the Tank
WCS
Kristas Pap
*SOMEONE WILL FALL, as this is a very strong draft*
So I think we can all agree that it will take at least 2years + for Towns to develop while we could sign Ajinicia or whowever this year, along with 2017 FA's of
Whiteside
Durant possibly with Lebron
Al Horford
Pau Gasol/Noah
and many other FA's
The possiblity of having 2 of THE TOP TIER guards in this draft, while utilizing our cap space elsewhere, while the TOP picks also get paid more, while at picks 5-6 and the 2nd 1st rounder would be less than the TOP 2 picks combined, so we can fully utilize the cap space better, and having a YOUNG CORE to build around
Russell or Mudiay
Justice Winslow/Mario Henzoja
Thanasis
Durant/Al Horford
Whiteside/ Noah/ Ajincia
