None here could tell me why these five guys couldn't do the job here. newyorknewyork did a good job with his post ("they have less responsibility on better teams") but the rest of you took the typical Jim Dolan spin approach: "things will be better next year...Phil knows what he's doing...Fish is a future Hall Of fame coach...Galloway should win MVP of the league this year..." Quit watching Dolan mind-control "Knicks Post Game" and start thinking for yourself.

People, we were f..ked over royally this year! I see OUR PLAYERS doing well in the playoffs right now for other teams! And you here want to make excuses for getting rid of those five players. No wonder the Garden still sells out even with a sh!t team. You fans buy any bullcrap Dolan tells you and any bullcrap Dolan puts on the court for you.

Wake up, b-ball people! Five of our ex-players are suiting up for playoff games while our current players are suiting up for a Garden Of Dreams prom!

You say how can a team with those players plus healthy melo not be competitive, well ask yourself this; Are any of the players you mentioned 2nd options on their current teams? Are they good enough? Besides Chandler, are any even starting caliber players? You are suggesting because they are currently on playoff teams automatically means they are good enough to be 2nd, 3rd, 4th options on a good team. You can't take a collection of role players and just say them plus an all-star should be a good team. There is a common sense factor involved with that.

it is about system basketball and culture change. phil jackson went all in on two things: the triangle and carmelo anthiny.

so if you don't look like a player who can work properly in the triangle, ie you thrive in a more one on one playground style and aren't really that keen on moving without the ball (shumpert and smith) you will get traded. if you don't get along with carmelo anthiny then you will be shipped out (chandler). amare and felton were gone no matter what.

so what can we expect this offseason? we can expect that jackson will draft for fit in the triangle and the ability to mesh interpersonally with carmelo anthiny.

i think this is a very very tough task. the gorilla in the room is that caemlo anthiny is not a triangle player but this is the scenario that jackson finds himself in, either being compelled by dolan to retain carmelo anthiny or believing that anthiny will somehow change his playing habits as well as subsume his outsized ego and conceitedness.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

It really is amazing how everything to you comes back to melo. So pathetic.

All the teams those players went to were making the playoffs without them. The heavy lifting was already being done by their new teammates, some of the best players in the league. The heavy lifting they couldn't manage in NY.

Yeah right, none of those players were responsible in any way for their performance with the Knicks

It's truly mesmorizing sometimes. He can take the most inane, deranged posts that have nothing at all to do with any semblance of reality, and he ties it back to Melo and his latest reason to hate Melo, Phil the MeloMillionsMinion.

It's like a really bad Marvel comics movie.

We can now wait and listen to him tell us he really couldn't help himself because someone else mentioned Melo first.

Please quote the people who said all of that. Oh that's right, no one did.

Also, since you were unmade to post the stats:

Amar'e: 2-12
Shump: 1-4
JR: 3-9
Prigs: 1-4 0 assists

Only player with a good game was Tyson: 5-8 18rebs, though Dwight dominated that game.

Well done!

+1
High level playoff basketball indeed!

Let's hear the knowledgeable, clear-eyed voice of reasonable doom and gloom to those stats.

Oh wait, that's right, real b-ball people know stat lines have nothing to do with high level playoff basketball:

Amare may have missed 10 shots, but they made his teammates better by comparison!
Shump may still not know how to shoot consistently, but he does the little style things that don't show up!
JR might be a streaky shooter, but quality teams know they need that quality!
Prigs may not be able to defend or want to shoot, but his threat of assists led to instant opportunities for others!
FluTyson may have a new last name now! On Being Mrs. Howard...

What do these five players have in common?

Amar'e Stoudemire
Tyson Chandler
J.R. Smith
Pablo Prigioni
Iman Shumpert

If you want to see the answer, scroll down below a bit.

Answer:
All five of those players are playing playoff basketball at a high level and earlier this year they were on the NY Knicks and were dumped by our team Prez Phil Jackson!

Yup, salary dumps, silly trades...those five had to be gotten rid of to keep and make room for Bargnani, Pete Sampras, Greg Monroe, and some 19 year old draft pick kid from college.

Look at these five names again:
Amar'e
Tyson Chandler
JR Smith
Shump
Pablo

You mean to tell me we couldn't have a playoff team with those guys plus Melo!?!
Ever think that instead of dumping those guys Phil should have
A) dumped Fisher (how come he couldn't get that group to play and work well together, yet the Celtics make the playoffs with their marginal group of guys?)
or
B) dumped the triangle system that might have been hurting the team's progress instead of dumping players who are helping other teams in the playoffs

Nope, Phil keeps Fish, keeps a system that didn't fit our roster...but gets rid of five of our best players who are now doing well in the NBA playoffs. What a joke.

Know what else they have in common?

They don't make the playoffs when TOGETHER!!!!!
So while they are all playing, they are not playing together are they?

Your A and B requires we also get those guys back and rewind the clock to when?

Move forward.

Tyson let the opposing big man dominate the game in the playoffs? I don't believe it. Can't knock him to much. 18 rebs is 18 rebs. Way better then the 6 a game he gave us vs the Pacers.
