I'll give you credit for trying hard to find something to praise Phil for
if next year is as bad as this year... I will be clamoring for the firing squad. He will have proven himself to be someone that is just cashing paychecks... I am willing to trust him until that point though
Trust has to be earned but I am willing to wait and see.
Sometimes you guys talk about him as if he is a significant other. It doesn't really matter if he is trusted or not, as we are not decision makers, we all have to wait and see what happens. I choose to enjoy the rebuild/reload (whatever you want to call it) journey as opposed to staying afloat on a mediocre level as it really has been rely done in NY.
As far as next year is concerned, I anticipate an improvement but not to the point of contention. For me it's about wanting him to start to build a solid foundation for years to come. Not sure what would constitute wanting Phil fired.
Im close to this also... although I do expect the team to much improved, at the very least from a talent standpoint. I expect a good player from the draft, a healthy Melo and $25mm or whatever the cap space is to yield a better team. We have some young guys and some will stick and others wont. But Phil has taken some lumps so I expect some results next.
I dont have a line... like anything less than 35 wins and Phil should go. Its fluid... many different scenarios can play out or almost play out.
One thing is for sure though.. with the high pick and tons of cap space we should start getting a vision of the team he wants to create. We should also get some vision into what kind of recruiter he is. Apparently he/they expect Melo to be a big saleman for them so I have no idea how that plays out.
