Everybody is talking about it so here's the poll.
I'd be OK with it if we got back players who'd make us a playoff team next season
Finito! Sayonara Knicks, Been Nice Watching You!
Would Not Judge The Trade and Wait To See How It Pans Out
I Would Commit Ritual Suicide on the corner of 34th Street & 8th Avenue. Anyone want to join me?
Who Cares? This team will still suck regardless of what they do with the pick.
I would commandeer Splat! and mount a tank gun turret on his back and lay siege on MSG until it is reduced to a pile of rubble and then I would squeeze a final dollop of steaming hate turds out of Triumph The Insult Dog and deposit them in Jim Dolan's lap
None of the Above. I don't care what the Knicks do. I am a fan for life even if Dolan trade rapes my family.

We morphed but had a foundation until Dolan took over and Van Gundy left(just at the Knick of time) then it went disastrous where we got "experience players" such as Shanden Andersen and Howard Eisley Kurt Thoma setc to the point where we got pick # 7 just 3 years after we went to the finals and 2 years after we went to the C finals. Did we make a good pick--no we star phucked and lost the player before the season even started and then it was on. The team went on a decade long run of making the worst trades treating the draft like it was a plague and then when we were forced to take a pick I dont believe the franchise with its foundation were set in place to make a prescient pick. We went through Marbury than Crwford Curry all of those folks to the pont we traded for Melo. We found a glimmer of time where the east continued to sck and the sun aligned for us on e year when we had J Kidd and a band of 37 year olds with Melo The acquired Tyson Chandler with Felton and JR Smith having career years. 1 season for every asset we had. Yep we had 1 DECENT season in 14 years when we outspent every other team 3-1. 14 years is to long now. If we alter path and do not take this pick I dont have time in my life left for the Knicks. And Im a super fan 100000000X times a fan that Dolan is. But just like the audacity of Dolan calling back that 70 yar old--hge doenst fcking get what a fan really is other than someone who pays him. He owns the team and he has also hijacked the team from ist fans. there is nothing to root for--no organic love for any fan. Fans dont give a sht about Carmelo Anthony they really dont.

Reading your history (tough to read about your Dad, but thanks), it drives home this feeling that if you endured from the 70s to now there were major lulls, sometimes 5 or more years, when the Knicks pretty much sucked, but there was always something special that came along soon enough to keep you on board.

For me, I really liked watching Ray Williams and Micheal Ray Richardson play. The club may have been so-so, but they were exciting players. And Bernard of course. And then Patrick.

But it has been a decade and a half without that kind of compensating factor. And I despise Melo. More for his game than him personally even though people know I don't hold him in high personal regard. But I loathe his style of basketball. He actually sucks in my eyes, but hey I survived even that and now I stand at the precipice. I've already basically renounced my status as a fan, but I've got that miracle thing going on. Despite Phil being a damn joke, I'd enjoy a miracle saving his pretentious old ass. That's entertainment!

But there's no gas left in the tank. I have zero faith left, so I'm now a gas huffer, getting high off the fumes from the gas tank, but that's almost gone too.

If the Knicks become a contender it will be completely in spite of Dolan and Phil. And that is the only thing that keeps me at the scene of the accident. I want to find out conclusively if The Gods Are Crazy.

Exactly.
That said, I don't think any of the players I'd be willing to trade the pick for will be available.

Bring a tire iron to Draft Day and when Adam Silver says:

"And with the 3rd Pick, the New York Knicks select D'Angelo Russell", Phil hands him a Knicks jersey and then goes whack! across the shins and puts him down.

And then Phil would turn to the audience, beat his chest and scream:

"You want culture! How's that for culture?!"

Briggs... horrible story about your pops. Might be history but Im sorry man.

For me it just what kind of deal is it? I mean we could take OK4 and he could have knees like Oden and nobody would know.

If we trade the pick in a stupid deal for someone like Kevin Love or Al Horford then I will just follow the pattern Im currently on which is just drift away until I dont care or dont watch. I had Yankee season tix for over 12 years.. I think 96-2008. But the last few years I had no desire to watch the Jeter/Mariano farewell tour. I say those guys celebrate, I dont need to see bad baseball and a team of ancient overpaid plodders and Im sure as hell not paying for those tickets. I didnt even really watch baseball last year and since I dont bet daily I simply didnt follow the sport.

Im enjoying a transition from playing sports to playing music and my emotional connection to these teams is waning.

If the Knicks dont give me something worth watching I just wont. I need another team to follow. Ill enjoy using the time for something else.

The most enjoyable hoops Ive enjoyed in years was coaching my 11 year old son's team. We won the title and had a couple really dramatic playoff games.

Im good walking away.

BUT if they trade the pick for more pieces I would still be open. There are some teams with a lot of picks and while I like the guys at the top of the draft maybe we are best spreading out options around. Im wait and see at this point.

If we got back an elite player in his prime, not someone who is going to spend the rest of his career on the injured list, sure. But other than Durant (who is looking increasingly like damaged goods) who else is available and worth trading the number one pick?

If Phil pulls a Layden, I will have a hard time shelling out money for money for League Pass until they give me a very good reason to.

Actually Im setting the bar very high, don't want anything short of an elite player in their prime for a top 3 pick. If we have our usual bad luck and pick lower than where teams would pick historically with our record, then we still better get back a very good player in return.

Pulling a Layden just means trading for damaged goods.

The only acceptable trade I can think of that could actually happen is if we trade down a couple of slots in the draft while picking up an additional asset. Anything other than that and I'm probably done as a Knicks fan.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I used to love the yankees and now they kind of disgust me.

The Knicks will have money to spend...they wont be buying 12-13 draft picks. The majority of the team wont be drafted players.

at least one core player and a couple of young signings would be a good start.

You have that now. I'll just never understand the perception that there is a way to win thats better than others when the team hasnt won in decades. For instance...other than Dirk the Mavs were all free agent or traded for players.

it doesnt make that ring insignificant to Mavs fans....they appreciate.

Yeah but Dirk is the Mavs Wade is the Heat Duncan is the Spurs--we need that--the fans need that. We tried the other way and its been an absolute failure. Carmelo is NOT a Knick no one views Carmelo as a true Knick.

Ummmmmmm what?? I absolutely see Melo as a true Knick. It's the team he grew up loving and his first chance he had to be a Knick he did everything he could to get here. About trading the first pick. First of all i'm against trading the pick but if they did then it would obviously be what they got for it, and it would have to be one hell of a player we get and hopefully a 1st round draft pick either later in the 1st round in this draft or a future 1st (hopefully in 2016) would be nice to have with the player. No matter what they do i could NEVER not be a Knicks fan and could NEVER just choose another team to root for like some on here are saying they would do. I'm a HUGE sports fan especially when it comes to my teams. So i hope they don't trade it but if they do i hope what we get for it helps us become a team that is instantly talked about as a contending team.

Wow, and you say you're a Knicks fan?? Can't see it. Not a true Knicks fan anyway.

You're pathetic. Get lost.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!

I dont mind rooting for the loser hell Ive been a Jets Mets fan since I opened my eyes and that not changing--but the Knicks are different--They ve hijacked by a man no one likes who has personally made me give up season tix and now I wont even go to the games--I wont bring my kids to the games--and its a disgrace. I used to go to the Knicks games when I was 5 until my dad died when i was 8. I literally went toa Knicks game 2 days before my dad collapsed in a Chock full of Nuts in front of my face. When I was a young fan--it started at a time when the Knicks were just starting to go down hill. You know the transition from the Frazier Reed Knicks to Bob Mcadoo Spencer haywood Glenn Gondzerik etc.. but hey Im just a kid what the fck do I know. yadayada shhty teams then we got Bernard and played a couple of good year he got hurt-sunk and got Patrick--that set forth a period that was reasonable where we actually did take picks and got guys like Kenny Walker Mark Jackson Gerald Wilkins hey anyone remember we also drafted Rod Strickland(of and we super starphucked him in a trade for Mo Cheeks) went for one good year with Pitino and didnt come back until we hired Riley--The Riley core foundation of this franchise--to me lasted 15 years he set it up and they stayed with it even when they got rid of him or he got rid of us.

After reading your post it's pretty clear that you're the pathetic one here. Hahahahaha. I hate fake fans.
