Dude, you wouldn't consider that trade for Westbrook and a first round pick?

not a chance in hell ... it would be another idiotic move for an idiotic franchise.

I want a cheap rookie that our very own lil knicky

Westbrook was one of my favorite players coming out of that draft and still is. I admit he's got a hero ball MElo like dopey streak in him, but he's one of the few guys in the world who can take over NBA games and carry a team for weeks at a time.

That being said I firmly believe Russell ends up a better player. And we get him cheap for first 8 years. He's so beyond these college players. Today will be really interesting because they will be throwing 2-3 NBA caliber defenders at him everytime he touches the ball.

I know a big would be nice to build around but we can accomplish a lot in FA there. Russell is the one who makes everyone better and plays the right way

Are you moving away from OK4 as your number one pick?

Would not trade our pick for anything. Instead, I would trade Melo to pick up another lotto pick (Laker anyone?)

Nope. I am afraid that Kevin Durant is in the same path as Brandon Roy and/or Michael Redd. 2 outstanding players careers cut short due to injuries.

If we get him via free agency then great but I am not willing to gamble a top 3 pick.

Carmelo will prove to be a great asset in this system. He just need to have a strong veteran on the court or bench to confront him when he is coasting around. He rebounds well and can score with the best of them. However, it appears as if he lost his athleticism, that alone is sort of puzzling.

Russell, Shved, Carmelo, stein, Monroe, would be an excellent lineup. Whatever we do, we need to find a trade partner to truly change our course. Maybe we can use Philly or Boston as trade partner since they have multiple picks in the first round.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I don't know man.. I really don't. I guess I would have to say emotionally I would take Russell.. that's gut and Ive simply become a fan of how he plays. OK4? I mean I think only injury keeps him away from a great career. It depends on his heart and motor and work ethic... Have to like what I see and my god I just have never seen a young post guy like that. His moves are very Hakeem like. OK4 looks a bit robotic or stiff and then has this extra gear of quickness that college defenders have NO idea what to do with.

Towns had a fantastic first game as well. Exactly what I have been pining to see from him. We would be lucky to have any one of the three. I think they have played their way into a 3 way tie. I cant logically argue one is CLEARLY better than the other. Its just preference and luck at this point. Russell is my gut choice.

He's going to have a lot to prove, and he puts his work in in the offseason. I would expect a very slim Melo ready to play the 3 and it will behoove him to keep every extra pound he can off that knee. Grant Hill looked like a POW he got so skinny w/ Pho but it prolonged his career. Melo isn't a fast player, but he's a very quick player and the triangle and his ability to shoot it should make his life much easier. He works to hard to score the points he does. He's not the guy you put 4 blue collar guys around. OK4 is that guy though..

The pick is a foundational transition in the franchise. It cannot be compromised. The only trading option is at pick 4 and I think I still doubt I would do it -- the criteria to trade the pick is to have another team essentially massively overpay .

The foreign players are going to move up into position 4 you are talking athletic 7-2 uber athletic 6-8 SG and then Mudiay will have a say about things. I really liked what I saw in the Utah c if I was doing an asset trade from 4 he may in the long term be a top 5 guy in this draft. If we do take jahill okafor my suggestion is looking how we can bet this kid as well instead of others that have been suggested.

BRIGGS,
The one and only reason I would move this pick is to obtain a star player and another first round pick (I.e. Westbrook and a first round pick in 2015). If we had two picks in this pick and the cap space we currently have, we would be set for a decade.

Giving the availability of Okafor, Towns, and Russell, I believe teams will be willing to deal.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

We have so many holes to fill in the roster, and so little money to do it with, it makes zero sense to trade our 1st rounder. If you keep the pick you draft a good player, plus you have all your cap room remaining so you can then sign a good player (or multiple guys)- essentially you can plug 2 or 3 holes in the roster. If you trade the pick for a star, that means you can only plug one of the holes in the roster because you're taking on so much salary.

If we trade our pick that'll probably be the last straw for me and my fandom. Unless we're getting Anthony Davis I'm not interested.

That would be amazing but I don't beliefs Melo would agree to a trade to the Lakers.

As a true fan, I'm putting my faith in management to make the right decisions regarding the draft and any possible cross-franchise moves, because I know we have a great management team in place led by Phil Jackson. Jim Dolan is behind Phil all the way and will spare no expense to do whatever is necessary to improve the team consistent with a reasonable time-frame.

This team has been deprived of true talented players for the last decade; it would be insane to trade that lottery pick. However, if a team were to offer three top first round picks for that one pick, I would definitely consider pulling the trigger. #1 for 5, 8, and 12 for example can net us Stein, Kaminsky, and a stud Point Guard.

Dolan has been a good owner when it comes to sparing no expense. Its the other areas he has been so abysmally horrific in that have earned him worst owner in sports type labels.

Dolan is terrible....he is business minded, but not a true basketball mind. All of the moves he approved were made in the premis of attracting more fans to the Guarden.

I said the same thing in another thread minus the A Davis part. He's the only guy id give the pick up for.

A true fan is true to his own ideals, his own imagined trade scenarios, his own estimation of talent, his own imagined managerial skills and his own vision of a valid basketball franchise.

And the true fan doesn't necessarily have to be about the Knicks.

And the true fan doesn't question anyone else's truth.
Unless of course they're corporate trolls or homers. Or both.

I just love all of these Melo traders. Just taking up space. Last I looked, he has a no trade clause in his deal. What would it take to make him renounce it?
