Galloway ranks as follows among NBA Rookies -

Scoring (ppg) - 3rd
Rebounds (pg) - 5th
Assists (pg) - 5th
3 Pt % - 4th
Steals (pg) - 7th
Mins (pg) - 3rd

Not sure what this means in terms of future potential, but if the trending continued, it would appear to valuate higher than a 2nd Round pick. Further, Galloway is still 23 years old which is still reasonably young. Not sure how you are comparing him to other rookies who are 4 and 5 years younger - as the current NBA crop of Rookies are almost all approximately 20 - 23 years old.

If he's 3rd in minutes, of course his per game stats are going to be high.
Breaking news: Galloway gets more points in 30 minutes than other rookies get in 10 minutes.
You'll find many more useful stats on basketball reference and other websites.

and for a 30 mpg rookie his defensive stats and rebounding are fantastic. He's showing he's versatile enough to be a rotation guy and I firmly believe his shot will get better. He may be 6'2 but his wingspan more than compensates and the bottom line is when you watch him for 5 minutes the first thing you see is he does NOT play small. He also doesnt turn the ball over.

So lets recap
- playing top flight defense
- hits big shots
- takes care of the ball
- great shooting potential (#s there just not in NBA yet)
- has a great motor
- recognized around top 10 of his rookie class

There is a smarter than thou voice around these parts confidently labeling Phil's first year an epic fail, but seeing LG in summer, gromming him in the D league and having him play well in the NBA is a nice job of developing a piece moving forward. I think Raja Bell was undrafted also... I can see some similarities there also.

This player is looking more and more like a nice job by Knicks new managment. May be small but its still part of the picture.

Oh this season was still a historic failure by Phil and he's lucky this wasn't one of the years we traded away our pick. A reasonably nice 20 game stretch by a rookie doesn't make this a successful season. We've had countless nice 20 or so game rookie stretches (Landry Fields, Channing Frye, Jeremy Lin, and more) that were followed by much worse play. (And this 20 game stretch ranks below stretches of those other players.) I think his .050 WS 48 is an accurate reflection of his play. Like most rookies, he's a well below average NBA player but he's still making a helpful contribution. He's contributing more than what you'd expect from a < 1 mil per year salary and is a good bargain.
I am glad we have Galloway but if this is all you need to say a season wasn't a failure, you're in Nixluva territory. It's almost impossible to put together a roster that doesn't even have one nice player on a rookie contract.

Nice job by Knicks management finding this player isn't a statement on the season but this is definitely a positive. The Knicks scouted this guy at Portsmouth, brought him into playoin the sl team when he went undrafted, brought him to camp, protected him in the dl draft and then brought him up. A great find for a team that has a lack of assets and cap space. Being resourceful and coming away with a guy that is like a second first round pick is definitely a positive. Also, he has that freakish wingspan that seems to be a prerequisite for the guys Phil brings in.

Cant see how anybody could talk bad about a guy who was found roaming the d league and actually producing. The way phil is going. All he jas to concentrate on are key players to compliment melo in the starting lineup. Also our pick will get huge minutes as a rookie compared to the woodson and larry brown old school coaches who sits the rookies for a year. Fish will play whoever is ready to play.....

this guy is just another one of our guards that we will grossly overrate. So done with guards that can't efficiently shoot the ball.

good defense and good rebounder but that is about it (for now).

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Why does every Knick player have to be either the Second Coming, or an absolute bum? Seems like this board never just takes a player for what they are. Galloway is ok, and cheap. Could be a nice backup guard for us.

How he does with Melo and slightly more talent around him will tell whether or not he is starting quality guard.
