why would you compare a guy to Walt and say he should be drafted at 3?

#3 is pretty high in the draft??

Maybe because he ranks Duncan and Anthony Davis ahead of Walt.

Ok4
Towns
Russell

The problem i have with rankjng is that it assumes players will all fall into a sequential order....When in fact a lot of these guys will have parallel careers.

The “overrated!” chant is a popular-but-typically-poorly-used chant in the college basketball world. It was used in poor form by Penn State’s student section Wednesday night.

In the first half of the Nittany Lions’ game against Ohio State, fans chanted “overrated!” at Buckeye guard D’Angelo Russell – perhaps the best player in the sport – while he was at the free-throw line.

That probably wasn’t a smart move, Nittany Lions’ fans.

Russell proceed to go off on Penn State, quieting the blue-and-white-clad crowd on senior night. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard has 26 points – 15 of which came on 3-pointers – with roughly six minutes remaining in the game.

So melo is soft becsuse of his smooth game. Well Russell is even smoother.

I think Wade deserves to be in that discussion too.

yes you are very right... but i think ppl are just not quite aware of crazy good ginobilli was when he is on the floor because he doesn't have eyepopping box score stats...

Carmelo simply doesn't have the killer instinct to lead the Knicks. He is a scorer, nothing but

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Great but WFT does that have to do with anything regarding your take on Russell and him being steal of draft.

I think he has the killer intinct....its just on offense only. Hes not a great defender or vocal leader...so its hard for him to lead by example....which is main way quiet players lead. I "think" russell is the same way.....brings a lot on offense.....nothing on defense....and hes a quiet leader.

Ok4 might be the best pick for the knicks....when take into account:

Maturity....especially playing in NYC as JR mentioned can be a distraction.

Also if he already the best low post scorer in college.....what happens if he develops better defense? Hes already shown to be coachable.....Towns on the other hand is always in the dog house. Thats not a good sign.

Towns is always in the dog house? Is that really true? I think because Kentucky is so loaded upfront, calipari can afford to sit Towns down as he sees fit.

Towns simply needs another year. One year without Stein there playing 30mpg at center. Drafting a 1 and done guy based on potential is a crapshoot.

It reminds me of Marvin Williams. Remember him? He was on a loaded team but picked #2 because of his skills and athleticism because there was NO WAY this guy's skill set wouldnt translate, despite not stuffing the college stats. He was picked before Deron Williamsn and Chris Paul on the same reasoning that has Towns listed in the top 4

All these draft picks are crapshoot if you ask me. Same goes for Okafor. We know this much about Towns and Russell, they both can play at both ends of the court and they are NOT one trick ponies.

Martin, one thing I've noticed that's been consistent with this board, is that everybody is inconsistent.....

I can't remember 1 thread that actually stayed on the original topic of discussion. I'm guilty of this as well, but it seems like a normal thing around here!

They are all crapshoot. For every Garnett, you will find at least 10 Kwame Brown or Eddie Curry

Russell is so special, I don't know how some around here would pass on that kid to select an unknown commodity like Mudiay.

I think when you see legit skills it's not a crapshoot. You can't fake being a shot blocker with legit size and offensive skills. I'm seeing some legit talent and BB IQ from Russell and OK4. I don't see any of KAT, OK4 or DR being a bust.
