Completely irresponsible for Melo to continue playing with it and for the organization to allow it. Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. They should all be ashamed--Melo & the organization. Jesus H Christ man -- can we ever do anything right???

I agree, the medical situations with the Knicks have been a circus over the years. Added so much unnecessary drama.

Phil wanted to, but Dolan veto'd him.

The medical staff is for all of MSG not just the basketball team..Still, it's an excuse..These athletes who has the most money on the planet can't see Dr. Andrews like every other athlete.?

Athletes can choose to use their own doctors not MSG booms.
But it will cost them... so it is more greediness on player part, Melo included if his team is really stupid enough to save on using MSG doctors.

Melo is in full right to make decisions on his own body.
He is not a slave and nowhere in his contract he is obligated to shut it down on Knicks request.
My point id PJ does not care about Melo this way or another.
He stated this multiple times before and after the contract extension.
Melo is not part of the solution and he is not part of the problem.
He is like Garden building. Too much money invested to dump it... but it will go away naturally when NY will shut the site down for Port Authority project.

Well I think Melo/the Knicks knew exactly what his situation is and chose to play anyway...It's their choice..This is being overblown in NY because it's what we do..JR had the same surgery in July and missed the first 5 games because of his knee and 5 on drug suspension...We love the drama...

For whatever reason, Boomer and Carton were on this morning, comparing Melo to being the Arod of the Knicks. Boomer, based on his tweet log (or whatever it's called) determined that a large contingent of Knicks fans just don't like Melo. No explanation, just dislike.

I hate NY media sometimes...precisely because of the unending need for anti-homer drama. Dirty laundry always sells.

If "a larg contingent of Knick fans" simply dont like Melo then who the phuck voted this guy to start the all star game? I mean the guy got like 650k votes. More than CP3, Duncan, Bosh, etc etc...

Sorry, I dont think there is anything wrong with Melo's popularity with fans or players. BS

I used to love the sports talk. Kay does a great show. I used to like Mike and the dog but when Russo left the show was done, Mike alone is insufferable.

I also remember a longer time ago pre-internet when Knick fans wanted Ewing gone, didnt think he deserved the big contract he got.. etc etc

The talk shows are good when media talks to media, or does interviews, but the callers? I mean too much self importance run amok, I can get that from DK and Splat here anytime, in my car I prefer tunes these days. Much better ride

Media is the reflection of public opinion.
They can go against it but not much - they will lose their job.
Melo was voted to AS game because he is the only one we have to vote for as NY fans.
Where is no fish - the lobster is a fish.
Any other high character NBA-Star-worthy being on the Knicks will be voted instead.

Yup, and clearly, it is very difficult for this team to do the right thing.

When was the injury, as now described, first known of, and who knew about it?

what carmelo did this season was heroic... he has the heart of a champion.

i am sure he won't put on any extra weight while convalescing and rehabbing, and will return in time for next season in his usual supreme condition.

i congratulate the many millions of fans in new york who voted him to the allstar game, and being the trooper that he is, he had to oblige them.

long live carmelo kyam anthony! hip hip hooray!!!

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Melo makes 4 times what JR does and there are over 4 years left on his contract. So even if the surgery is supposedly similar, the circumstances and the impact on the franchise is decisively different.

Drama. Overblown, we love it..Melo will be ready for training camp and two games into the preseason no one will remember this...

Yeah you won't remember it because you're the perfect fan designed in Dolan's labs. You remember nothing and are constantly praying for the best.

Can you imagine how this board would have lite up if Melo would have shut it down after two games? He would've been questioned for being selfish an greedy.

he could have avoided this by simply going to a winning situation for less money. or maybe he knew he would not have passed a physical with another team.

Heck, I already figured he was selfish and greedy. Put us in the position where we have give up a lot to do the original sign and trade so he can benefit from the 5 year deal, then opts out of the last year (Walsh f'd up there), in essence taking the 4 year FA deal that he did not want, and then gets what amounts to a Max deal (with another player option!), giving the team little wiggle room cap-wise, and even gets a no trade clause and 10M bonus if he is traded.

If he really wanted to come to the Knicks he could have waited and gotten the same money for 4 years that he ended up getting by opting out of the final year of his first contract, and the Knicks would have had more player flexibility and not lost draft picks.

He showed he was selfish and greedy by wanting to play in London and the All-Star game. Never been an Anthony fanboy, or a member of the new UK board splinter group, CAA (Carmelo Anthony Apologists), and I would not have given him the contract he got, but if he said he was hurting and we had proof in the form of medical tests, why would anyone say he was selfish about shutting it down?

As some have just said, the Knicks would have looked like fools signing him to the contract they signed him to if the injury was pre-existing.

I thought Jackson came away looking weak by giving him the contract he gave him. I can only hope that he did get a physical and a clean bill of health before this latest contract. Isn't it necessary to have a physical for insurance purposes?

If Phil did sign a 30 year old player knowing that he was damaged goods, he looks worse than anyone during this whole fiasco.
