so we can't even look forward to the draft cuz is going to be a bust anyway? If all top 4 picks are bust then stop me now before I kill myself.

Free agency isn't guaranteed but at least we have the space just in case we have a taker that fits.

You see what I'm saying? It's like a rage for no reason. We're in cruise control right now at least we should be instead of screaming bloody murder over a roster we already knew was ****ed to begin with

they have a ton of work to do thats for sure

What's the ton of work? We draft a top 4 pick and then we hold our cash out to whoever wants it, that fits what we are trying to do. Not much to that actually

Absolutely. Sometimes it's better to be a realist than to be jaded. the only reason why the team should improve is because right now it's the worst in Knicks history.

So being a realist is say "we suck. Phil is a retard and we're doomed for 10 years".....

Being jaded is stating the reality which is we have a top 4 pick and 30 mill to spend?

What's really going on here?

Stop living in the F'n past!!! Why not talk about what is ahead for this team in terms of opportunities to rebuild the team. Bitching about how bad things have been is defeatist and a waste of time. There's nothing virtuous about complaining over things that can't be changed. Take stock of the fact that this team has it's 1st rd. pick and has cleared out the trash for once. This is the best chance we've had to get a franchise talent in a very long time. Then on top of that we have cap space too!!! You can't tell me this isn't a better situation than we've had in a long time.

If you arent watching games, maybe thats why you're asking a rather silly question. but what i think doesnt matter...Phil Jackson thought this team was good....that is a problem. Thats the same man who will be conducting our draft, the same man who mortgaged cap space for a contract worse than Felton's and hardly an upgrade in Calderon. I said who the Knicks draft might be a bust, not everyone's pick...unless you think there's zero chance of a bust, and thats delusional.

Look man, this team needs way more than a draft pick a few signings....they need a whole team. it may take years for that, much longer than Phil Jackson. thats reality.

i predicted 35 wins so i was way off lol. I like positivity but value honesty in order to get better. The OP thinks its so easy just because we have cap room and a pick. I respect his optimism but im still looking for a little realism

Btw Phil thought he could get Melo, amare, Bargnani, Dalembert, shump, jr smith, thjr and Calderón to win.....

Amare plays when he felt like it.
Jr Smith tuned everyone out in training camp.
Shump gave up on us.
Bargnani just came back from injury in February.

We got rid of all those guys except Melo who's out cuz of injury, Bargs, thjr and Calderon. The rest are a bunch of minimum salary players.

What the hell do you want Phil to do? Yes that original group should have been playoff bound but that group never played a single game together....and like I said Phil got rid of them already.....

what the problem is?

Honestly, I'm not that concerned what other fans think, only I control my thinking or enjoyment of the team. To be honest, they've provided me quite a few good laughs this season. I do know however that building a team isnt easy at all, hopefully Phil didnt think it would be, just like it isnt easy to walk in and coach...hopefully Fisher doesnt have that view.

Mhe team basically has just Melo amd maybe two other hopefuls. Folks want to talk about the future, but only want to look over the hood of their car. I'm looking further out than that, because no way this team can assemble a complete fit of a roster in one offseason. No team has truly done that without player conspiracy.

This is NOTHING like 2010. This is a much more focused and in sync franchise going into this off Season. There's no comparison.

You not trusting Phil is fine, but it's also stupid. He's not old and out of touch when he just won a title 5 years ago. Nothing in life changes that fast not even the NBA. There are plenty of players who were around at that time still in the league.

It's very difficult to tell how this draft will rate compared to other years. I actually think this draft is gonna be pretty good. It's not fair to talk about this draft in terms of having an all time great or not. Who knows at this point. Let's remember that OK4 and Towns are babies. They're very young and bigs usually need some time. OK4 already shows tons of promise. Who knew for sure that Steph Curry would be this good or Butler for that matter? Sometimes a draft has great players who just haven't proven themselves yet.

No different than you blindly trusting everything year after year no matter who runs the team...it's fine...but stupid.

You can be serious about Phil not being old...dude is old, dont care he won 5 years ago. BTW Kobe is too...and he's done. Where's Bynum, Lamar Odom, Artest?

5 years is a long time...get your head out of Phil Jackson butt. He's old inexperienced in the role he has and has a lot of work to do.

The irony here is incredible. NO ONE on this board has posted "I just wanna get a top pick" ad nauseam like you have. The OP is saying that we all knew this year was a throwaway year and sees optimism in the fact that we have a direction that we're going in with an established system in place. However, Knickscity brings up some valid concerns about Phil thinking this was a playoff team when they've only won 10 games thus far.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

The OP is saying that we all knew this year was a throwaway year and sees optimism in the fact that we have a direction that we're going in with an established system in place. However, Knickscity brings up some valid concerns about Phil thinking this was a playoff team when they've only won 10 games thus far.

I think you need to revisit some of the older threads before this season. I was in a minority about the state of the team. the majority of the board felt this team would be better than last years. Some were calling folks dumb and stupid to question anything about Phil, Fisher or calderon of all people. but like I said previous, what fans think has no bearing....Phil Jackson thought this team was a playoff team....that is scary.

Because it seems that we have two competing plans right now. Plan A is to tank and build through the draft; at best this will take several seasons. Plan B is to use our cap space to build around a soon to be 31-year old Melo coming off of major knee surgery. We basically have through the Summer of 2016 to complete this plan, at best. To complicate matters, there aren't many impact free agents this Summer and the few that are around either don't want to switch teams or are RFAs whose teams' will match an offer.

Actually, we haven't. The worst 82-game seasons we've ever had were 85-86, 05-06, and 07-08; we went 23-59 each of those seasons. We're currently on pace for 14 wins. In attempting to turn last year's team into a playoff team he created, by far, the worst team in franchise history. In fact, not only is this certainly going to be the worst season in franchise history, if we only win 14 games we'll be tied for the 8th worse season in NBA history. For all the justifiable **** Hinkie gets, his 76ers haven't been this bad and they were actively trying to be terrible.

Really? Go back and take a look at some of the threads prior to the season. Calderon was a huge upgrade over Felton; Shumpert was going to be revitalized playing in the triangle; Dalembert was a reasonable replacement for Tyson, if not better; Larkin, whose option we didn't pick up so he won't be back next year anyway, was a nice young player with potential; Hardaway was going to improve on last season. The general consensus was that we were a 40+ win team that was going to get a max free agent this Summer to put us over the top.

EnySpree wrote:right now we have a skeleton roster.... everything is setting up the draft and free agency. We're going to get a top 4 pick. We can sign whoever wants to come here.

We have a coach in place. We're running a system that players can see what we're trying to do here. So there's no guessing game.

Why so hostile and angry? I just don't get it. The sky is the limit in my opinion. We're set up to do nothing but improve no matter what happens.

Phil got off to a bad start by trading one of our only assets, Tyson Chandler, for next to nothing and taking back salary in the deal. He bid against himself by giving Melo a slightly less than supermax contract with a no-trade clause. A year after entertaining offers for Shumpert that would have brought back draft picks we gave him away in a salary dump. We have one player, maybe two if you count Calderon, that should be getting regular playing time on a decent NBA team. Hopefully, that number jumps to 3 after the draft. But, for some reason, we're not scouring the D-League to bring in guys that might be able to help. Instead, we're wasting roster spots on Bargnani and Amundson; guys who have been in the league for years and are clearly terrible. And, considering we don't have enough cap space to fill in our open spots with good players this Summer, we desperately need to luck into a diamond in the rough.

But you're right, we're probably going to improve. It's hard to get any worse than what we are today.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
I can't figure out this about fans and media....
