It's not Calderon entirely, its the system, the players he has around him, the coaching staff, and the direction of the franchise. There's no player on the knicks that makes sense to keep, so how do you expect players on this team to play like they give a fck.

We want players who want to play and play hard. Losers who can't be bothered to make the effort can leave (we've had enough of those over the years). That's what this season has been about- finding cheap bench players with the right attitude and the ability to learn, and sifting out those that can't or won't. Sorry, but if a player is about to be a free agent in the offseason and even that doesn't motivate them to play hard, they will be out of the league pretty soon.

Fin I see absolute zero value for keeping Calderon next year. You're dead on we won't use 33mms on free agency but we can be opportunistic throughout the year by opening up his 5mm in cap to add to our pile. The back end years are only 2.5 and the cap is moving up so it's non material.the rule is in the last year it can be spread over 3 years. So we'd pick up 5mm in cap next year.

There's no point in moving him right now, but i'm sure if Phil sees the need for more cap space he'd do it. This is the least of our concerns right now.

He's the only bait we have to landing Gasol. There's probably an inside connection we don't know about. IF we get Gasol next season, then Jose's contract and trade was well worth it. Phil's plan is to cut salary. Why save 300K on Pablo, when he could've saved a lot more cutting Jose. Theres a reason behind the madness......And usually fans do not have the same insight.

Dude, seriously? Get a grip; Gasol will NOT come to NY. Not with an unproven coach like Fisher. If Phil were coaching, I would say that we would have an excellent chance to ge him here.

OK.....I will try to be as clear as possible. I don't care about Calderon or Gasol. I'm not the GM that traded for Calderon. So your energy is pointing in the wrong direction. Calderon came here for a reason. Phil would not add a player that takes up cap space, if he didn't think that player would do two things.....Be a solid rotational PG and possibly bring his best friend (Gasol) to NY. Phil wouldn't add Fisher if he didn't think he could bring two things.....A solid foundation of the triangle. And the potential to bring in KD in 2016. Pay attention to how Phil operates and you might learn something. When Phil makes any moves, its usually for two or more reasons. He makes moves for short term and long term. Every single move has been like that since he came here. All I'm doing is trying to simplify it for you since it's so complicated for you to understand. And you're not alone. Most of the Knick fans are either stuck on the current record or finally understanding the long term strategy. So if anybody should get a grip, it should be you. In fact, this is the best time for you to jump ship. Nobody would care!
