It's insane that we have him $124mik without checking out his knees.

Melo probably could've played without doing further damage but the bottomline is his knee is deteriorating from 12yrs of heavy minutes

Or maybe he simply hurt his knee and needs it fixed??

It's fine if you want to believe it isnt a wear & tear injury.

He had issues with the knee and shoulders last year too by the way. If anything he hurt it last year and we still signed him to $124mil

It is an injury which happened because of wear & tear...
This how it is for every pro athlete who was fortunate enough to escape major injuries at the beginning of his carrier.
Melo was very durable for the most part.
He will never be the player he was and frankly we don't want him to be.
I would prefer limited Melo in supporting role with young stars running the show.
This how it should be and this how it will be.
The fact that this will cost 124 mils is not a problem.
Melo is Dolan toy-boy. who cares how this dumbas spends his millions...

Wait poster told me that he wasn't injured at all and just hurt. How do we know this is not just a cover up?

How injured differs from hurt?
Sound same to me... Unless he hurt his fillings...

That bothers me a little bit. I mean the organizatio is giving him all this money which he gets either way so he should at least shut it fdown when hey wat him to in order to be relatively healthy for the upcoming years
Agree. If they knew it was this serious it seems like he should have shut it down awhile ago.
thats why i dislike dolan because he lets melo call the shots instead of phil and the doctors

because dolan is the dumbest owner ive ever seen. Im glad he overcame his alcoholism but sometimes i wonder if it had a lasting effect because he never seems to get it

Your choices are overpay guys, or don't and end up with no one on your roster. Latter only works if you have all your draft picks.

Wouldn't it be standard operating procedure/due diligence for him to have a complete physical before being signed to the new contract or am I just being foolishly logical in thinking this...

Six months slides recovery to the doorstep of September.

Conditioning. Timing. Regain confidence. Contact.

October is cutting it close. Careful.

Exactly Earl. You know it's going to be 6months or longer. Knicks are never truthful with injuries

Shit happens- look at Dwight howard, who now battles knee injuries. All players will get injured, decline etc- it's just a fact of basketball. I like the phase we're at (lots of cap space), because I know you eventually have to spend that money, and when you do you're at risk of those players getting injured and being saddled with the contract for the next 4 years. It's just life- you can come up with all the 'oh we should never have given them that contract' (and I didn't want to in the first place), declerations you like, but the alternative is you end up with no one.

I didn't mind him staying on for the all star game when he said recovery would be 2 months, but 4-6months is a different matter really. Never get why players and teams lie about injuries- it's not like we won't find out the truth!

Oh boy, better start praying boys that who ever the hell we draft turns out to be a franchise player, cuz if melo dosen't return back fully healthy and the way he was then this rebuilding process got a hell of a lot longer.

I agree. Also, while I disagree with those that have criticized Melo for conditioning during his time in NY, I do think he tends to gain weight if he isn't working out. He will have a lot to overcome. His best year as a Knick was the year he came played for Team USA.

Really? It's not like this is the first time the Knicks have lied/haven't been completely truthful about an injury.
