A player the Magic are willing to deal for mininmal return, I'm told, is forward Moe Harkless, whose minutes have dropped each season w/ORL.

I do find it weird how he ended up not getting any playing time- looked promising last year, then nothing this year. I became even more suspicious when they fired their coach and he STILL didn't get any playing time.

Hmm, this rules some players out of trade and free agent contention:

"We only want guys in our locker room that care about the team more than themselves," coach Derek Fisher said. "That's what we're trying to build here. Every decision we make going forward is going to be with that in mind."

So that rules out Reggie Jackson for one!

Then why resign Melo?

Do you like Langston Galloway?

Galloway called Carmelo Anthony "unselfish" when asked to describe him, saying that he likes to help the young guys.

Probably THATS why. But why actually look into a player when you can make stuff up?

This is not a problem.

In that sense he is unselfish. Galloway is not the first to say that about Melo

Melo won't be a problem when we actually put other ver talented players around him. He never plays selfish when he has good players on the floor with him. This meme is so tired and lacks any sense of perspective. When we had a team with some players the ball was moving and we won't 54 games. Imagine the same scenario with younger and better players!!! That's what we're looking to do.

All of the young players that Phil has been targeting and the vets as well are guys that are good in a team concept. That's been the general demeanor of the players Phil has added. The more players we can add who have an unselfish demeanor will have a great impact on the team as a whole.

We just need to stay in position for the best pick possible--thats goal #1--we can do nothing more than that. Maybe we have some roster spots open and we can look at d league guys but we just have to play out the last 29 hope they go quick and move on.

so you would prefer to go into next season with a bunch of teeny boppers like minny and philly, with a in experience coach, no leader on the floor, and loose another 60+.

You know i really wonder what planet you guys live on sometimes. some of you have this imagination that gives this rosey out look of drafting 4 yr players with high IQ's and high character guys, like phil is the caoch.

Veterans win game, veterans win championships. When you have young loss talented players, they get traded for nothing aka shumpert and soon to be THJ. This becomes a vicious never ending cycle. Wake up, you only need 1 or 2 young players on a real winning roster.

If starks and Mason didn't have vets like Ewing, Oak, harper, blackmon, doc rivers around them, they would have never made the impact that they had.

When duncan, parker, and ginobli joined the spurs, the had a veteran high character guys around them to bring them along, robinson, elliot, eli, avery. These were good locker room guys, that were very professional.

Same thing with the rockets when they had rookie sam cassel in 94, he joined a veteran team, same thing with the bulls, the lakers, dallas, ect.

I can't stand it when it when all i hear is how many picks we can get, when has that ever been a reciepe for success

I have an idea that will bring some nice excitement in a lost season. Saw a reference to Lenny Wilkens in another thread, and was looking up the idea of a player-coach. It is forbidden since the implementation of the salary cap, but there is an exception for 10-day contracts.

Let's sign Derek Fisher to a 10-day at the end of the season and have him show the kids what he can still do out there!
