Like Briggs said if the cat isn't giving back money to be released, then let him sit on the bench till his contact is up.

Could mean 6'10" PF Dwight Powell might become available. You get the feeling Cuban is looking to tack on more veteran help up front and Powell could be the fall guy. If so, I'd jump all over that kid if I were Phil (provided we decide to cut the cord with STAT). Young, quick/agile PF with size and skill. Could be a nice building block for us.

If Phil is even aware of Powell and did like him let's say -- I might actually call up Cubes and say look, if you agree to waive Powell then we'll waive STAT. Even give Cubes permission to talk to Stoudemire before hand. Probably illegal to pre-arrange simultaneous roster moves like that, but who cares, honestly? Who needs to know? Keep it all on the QT...If he doesn't agree to waive Powell, so be it. We don't have to waive STAT unless an opportunity out there presents itself. How bad does Cuban want to add STAT?

Powell would be awesome. I clicked on the out of town link on the uk tool bar and saw the Dallas reporter is speculating Ricky Ledo or Greg Smith would be the player waived. His reasoning is that their deals expire. Powell makes a lot less but must have a partial guarantee on his deal next year.

Don't know why folks are focusing on Amare- the Bargs era is over in about 2 weeks! Rejoice!

I could be interested in Ledo and Smith too -- we lost JR and Shumpert via trade and never really picked up a legit 2G replacement (not counting Galloway). Ledo's been up with the Mavs for a little less than a week. Before being recalled, he was going for about 16 ppg in the DL (46% FGs, only about 30% on 3s though). Smith hasn't done much for Dallas this year as far as I know but he did have several nice games for Houston over the previous 2 seasons (especially 2012-13 where he saw some extended PT). I remember hearing Houston TV commentators compare him to a young Otis Thorpe. Wonder how Phil feel about these 2 guys..

There is something about the whole Bargnani season that does not add up in the media.

The Knicks is perhaps he only team to constantly repeat the same mistakes. Houston was kept around for many years instead of releasing the dead weights, Dolan always chose to keep them around. Both Bargnani and Amare should have been let go a long time ago.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I like how Amare wants to take time to "decide if he should be waived". Maybe that's another NYPost misquote, but it sure sounds stupid:

Though he has flip-flopped since the London trip on the issue, he now says he will take the All-Star break to decide whether he wants to be waived to sign elsewhere

Who gives a crap if he wants to be waived? I would like to know if he wants to give up his Kobe money right now.
