and again... they have more talent to get the kind of shots they want... we simply don't.... we shoot more midrange shots because we CANT get anything better...

Prime Shaq and Gasol were from the most efficient players of all time.

If we had one of those guys and it was a number of years ago then maybe the knicks could be ok efficiency wise (if it were many years ago)

It's not like those teams were neglecting the three point shot either. They were top 10 to middle of the pack in terms of 3PAr. If anything, I'm confident in the system's flexibility. We've two decades worth of evidence of the system conforming to the strength of its players.

thats a theory that I don't think most people believe though we will need to wait and see.

how come philly and detroit don't shoot these long midranges? Both these teams seems to be trying to teach an efficient brand of basketball. Or, they are just not lucky enough to have good long mid range shooters.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

With a dominating low post player like shaq, there are gonna be lots of open threes off double and triple teams. Shaq was great at getting the ball out and getting it swinging around the perimeter.

well the sixers are trying to run something like the rockets but they just don't have the personnel which is why they are dead last. in ORtg.. they don't have a good 3pt shooter besides covington... and if they werent tanking it'd be a horrible strategy...

i'm sure you could come up a much more efficient offensive strategy that would not make them dead last but that's not their goal... any system where you have mcdaniels or mcw jacking up 3s is pretty horrible...

I sort of agree. MCW shooting 3's is almost as bad as MDA having TD jacking em up.

If philly is gonna develop MCW then he better learn how to shoot from down town. PG's can't really succeed in the league without it anymore.

maybe Philly is giving him practice?

MCW is EXTREMELY talented but a bad shooter and a bit of a bone head.

mcw lost an offseason to an injury so he couldn't really work on his shot... my problem with the sixers is that none of these guys have any idea what a good shot is....

i remember reading somewhere that brett brown let's them shoot whatever shot they want as long as they are practicing it.... and i see the long view on that... but at the same time you have to try to fit what they can do in an offense... it's tough.. when you don't have any good offensive personnel you have bad players having less room to succeed because everyone else around them is bad too...

that's sort of what we are going through except guys like lance thomas, jason smith et al... don't have 3pt range.. so they take the open jumper because that's what they're used to because they've sucked their whole nba lives...

watching the sixers and based on what you just quoted, the sixers really seem intent on the tank. However, I don't believe that they are allowed to just shoot any shot since they take very few mid range shots.

We need three point shooters at te wing position, and a PF that can also stretch the court. That would greatly enhance the triangle offense.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
