We need to keep in this bottom 3 pack we need for Melo to take the rest of the season off.
I was actually leaning towards Mudiay, based on upside. Mudiay is a high risk high reward pick over Russell. But Russell is a safer pick, if you are looking for a real PG that actually knows how to pass and shoot....With a good handle to create shots. Similar to Irving scoring 50......I can see Russell having that same impact.
I can also see Mudiay having a similar impact. But the key with Mudiay is to improve his jumper and team play ability. Mudiay is very similar to John Wall, when he was a rookie. But as John worked on his jumper and matured, he's now becoming an impact player with his passing. So it comes down to who would you rather have right now?
Irving or Wall? Which is similar to Russell or Mudiay?
I'm now leaning towards Russell, because he has that feel for the game at a very young age.....And some people (cough...cough...JR Smith) never reached that level of play, as for as feel for the game as a team player. One on one....JR is up there with the rest of them....But who has a better chance at making their teamates better is the key........Who can play with Melo is another key. Mudiay needs the ball to be affective right now.....Russell can play on or off the ball....and already has a solid 3 pt shot to keep defenses off balance. With Mudiay, everybody will make him a jump shooter, and this is when his impact can be shaky.....
Again, I have some experience on this subject, since I'm a guard who can shoot from deep, or take it to the hole....and I love to pass. It's a wonderful feeling when you know the defense has no idea if you are going left...right....or pullup. Russell seems like a much younger version of me.....and 5 inches taller. So my final answer is............
RUSSELL.....I have to agree with you Briggs....Which you know is rare, but recently I've started to see what you see.
And depending on who's available in FA.....and how they do during March Madness.....I wouldn't be surprised if Russell went #1.
