They have zero means to get better.
Lopez is a free agent, Aldridge is a free agent, Wesley is a free agent. How can they pay all 3? The arguement is the owner is filthy rich and will over pay. OK fine. That team isn't going to get better what you see is what you get.
The west is a beast and it makes it hard to make the playoffs even if you are well above .500...
Aldridge demanded a trade and then too it back once they started winning. He wants recognition. He can't get that getting bumped every year in the first round of the playoffs. That's their fate regardless how good anyone thinks Lillard is.
what if someone over pays lopez? What if Wesley leaves? What if Aldridge leaves? It doesn't have to be to the Knicks.
Why isn't this ot? Because the Knicks are in a possible better situation then they are going forward. They are winning now but they could lose their whole roster next season just about.

They are winning now but but if they don't resign all 3 of there free agents then what?

If we don't sign any free agents and we **** up our draft pick then what?

Portland won 54 games last season and made it to the 2nd round in the brutal Western conference. This year, they have the 4th best record in the league and are on pace to win 58 games. All of their best players are under 30 years old. LaMarcus Aldridge has stated multiple times that he's going to resign in Portland he's just waiting until the Summer so he can get a 5 year extension, if he signs now he can only get a 4 year. Paul Allen is one of the richest people in the world and Portland has the Bird rights for both Matthews and Lopez; unless someone massively overpays for them, like max contract overpays, Portland should be considered the favorites to resign them.

You are right but why are we always just doomed and other teams aren't. Portland and the Knicks ate at the same crossroads this off season. We have to see what happens but I want to be just as positive as a portland fan.

Because those other teams don't have Dolan, we do. Portland isn't on pace to win 14 games this year, we are. That's nice that you want to be as positive as a Portland fan but the rest of us realize that we've already set the Knicks record for losses in a row, we're going to set the record for losses in a season, and there isn't a fanbase in the league that would switch places with us.

The Knicks can be right there. We have the foundation and the resources to make it happen.

The Suns won 29 games the year before, added a player that ended up winning back-to-back MVPs, Amare played 30 more games, and the NBA changed the rules regarding hand-checking that Summer.

The Jason Kidd Nets are a little closer. They only added Kidd and Jefferson after winning 26 games.

The SA Spurs aren't even close. Robinson sat out virtually the entire season and they tanked their way to won of the 10 greatest players of all time.

There's no one available this Summer on the level of Kidd or Nash. There's, probably, no one in this draft as good as Duncan. The top FA are either going to resign with their current teams, Gasol and Aldridge, or are RFA whose teams will almost certainly match any offer, Butler and Kawai. We have no foundation to speak of outside of Melo who's over 30, has a bad knee, and whose coach is playing him 40+ minutes/night in a losing cause. Hell, when MDA did that to Amare we were at least winning. No one else on the team, except MAYBE Galloway, looks like capable NBA player.
