Funny I thought the same, or simply if we got pick 2 or 3 how it might be the best bad luck ever... Like "having" to take Durant after Oden

You pick OK4 with the #1 pick, since thats the most popular pick...Then unload him in a mega deal either to fill out the roster or to a team picking 3rd or 4th. I think Stanley Johnson is a major sleeper, as far as his two way skill set. He could be the next Jimmy Butler or Artest. The top 5 picks have star potential. OK4, Towns, Mudiay, Russell, Johnson.

And as I watched OK4 again...he will impact the NBA like Zach Randolph. Duke looked better on defense when OK4 was at PF. And Plumlee was at center.

agreed. This draft isnt as deep but it has more star potential in the top 5. Winning the lottery requires luck but my main concern is staying in top 4 or 5

I'd still take ok4 #1but this is now a close race whhen it was really all done. Its nothing that ok4 has done wrong but to have a potential triple double pg at 6-5 I mean henstill gives u the triple threat yet he controls thenrock.

Right now 60% ok4
40% russell

i don't think russell is a true pg... he has way too much scoring ability to be responsible for initiating the offense... he does seem like he'd be a good triangle guard... him and langston together would be fun to watch...

Having two combo guard backcourt both with great court vision would be deadly... Russell is the real deal

over duncan? you've got to be kidding

He's the neo Walt Clyde Frazier!

Briggs made that comment the other day and if you look at the kids he really does play like clyde. He plays with a slick pace. He makes the same behind the back moves to free up his jumper. He's tall and he has a killer instinct. I really like the guy too. You hand to draft okafor and towns but Russell should be the first guard drafted

Today is the first time I actually had the time to watch Russell play a full game and this kid has the look of an NBA Allstar. He does things that you cannot teach:

He has elite level instincts in that he's always 1 to 2 plays ahead of everyone else. He sees the play develop before it happens. With this instinct, he is able to slow the game down and play at an even pace while most everyone else seems to be frenetic and in a rush around him. Also, one of the commentators shared a story about Russell, saying his watches videos of his opponents on his own and points things out in the vids to his teammates. This is what self-motivated, leaders do. You can tell this kid is going to get better and will be a team leader. Russell also has a presence on the floor. You always notice him when he is on the floor even without the ball because he understands how to move without the ball.

Russell is the real deal and at this point, I'd take him over Towns. Of course things could change as the season progresses but besides Russells obvious talent, he just has those intangibles that you dont teach.

I like the kid a lot too and I've posted repeatedly for a while now that I'd take him if Okafor and Towns are off the board in a heartbeat. I just think its funny every year the top prospects are annointed "the next" and then 2/3 of them don't pan out. Like Olowokandi was the next Olajuwon etc etc.

I really wish we had two top 5 picks so we could draft D'Angelo Russell (Clyde Frazier) and Karl Towns (Patrick Ewing) to add to Melo (Bernard King).

He is good. I just think he needs to add a bit more muscle.

If we get the no.1 pick, I'd look to trade down for Dieng and the Wolves' pick to select Russell.

The LARGE ? with Russell will come down to NBA athleticism. He is clearly not an elite athlete by any measure.

Remember this is still college ball and the not so distant memories of guys like Jimmer / Adam Morrison / Morris Almond are still whispering in the wind. I mean Briggs had N-Walters, M-Muscala and B-Mullens as top of the draft type talents.

the difference is that his rebounding and steals numbers are pretty good for a SG which are markers for athleticism/nose for the ball which means he can hang on this level... his numbers look a lot like harden's and curry's sophomore years...

he will need to bulk up since the only blemish in his offensive game is his strength to be able to get to the line and finish strong at the next level but he's 19 and he will gradually fill out physically...

Why does this feel like the steph curry draft. I was in the minority thinking curry was drafted too high. Seems like Russell may have that same type of instant offense and feel for the game at the nba level. Speaking as a very solid guard myself....if he has high basketball IQ...which he does based on his assists and feel for the game.....Then regardless if hes a pg or sg....hes simply a dynamic guard that goes at his pace like harden....and still able to score and dish. I think since we are deep at bigs in this draft....The smart move is to have multiple trade scenarios with all teams in the top 5 of the draft....if we get the #1 pick.

I just think Towns...Russell....even Mudiay....have a higher ceiling. And at best he looks like zach Randolph. These other guys could turn into steph curry or anthony davis type....lots of teams have multiple picks and would love to build around OK4.
