He can't defend and he can't stay healthy. End of story.

Phil might be bringing him back so its not quite the end just yet. ESPN is reporting tonite that they are shopping Calderon and Bargs but not Amare.

Phil can't project a full rebuild without purging Amare. It makes no sense
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

It's a polite way of saying that they tried to trade him for pretty much any kind of asset and no one wanted him.

I would wager even a trade just to move him off the roster as a push/push trade would get no traction ( his contract is too big, no way to move him without taking in other bad/longer contracts)

What has been reported all along is that Dolan is very fond of Amare and doesn't want him traded. He would be hard to trade but I think the focus is on moving Bargs.

His contract is impossible to trade, even the balance is tough unless it to a team with big cap space. Very limited market.

Regarding the future, I have not spoken with him nor done a pychological Profile as have some of you but projecting what his knick future would be vs. one with another team is the key to his outlook. By that, if a team comes a calling with the promise of starter minutes and a 10mi "starter salary" he might gear up and try to go for it.

We did see him try for 30 min a game and for 35 games he pretty much exceeded what most thought he could do. A warrior mentality gives it all he got and knows defeat when he does so. He HAD TO TRY AND HIS BODY DEFEATED HIM!!! I would think that itself speaks louder than his ego. Could he be an 18-20 minute guy, and a mentor to a Yoot Rookie at 3mil a year with no back to backs? Perhaps if he wants.

He could do that elsewhere but maybe he wants to live in NY?

Despite his contract and the fire extinguisher defending itself I really don't find too much fault in Amare as he has battled back time and time again. I thought what he did this first part of the season was admirable as far as getting into NBA shape and playing with pain.

This guy could have folded a few times but really tried to play up to his contract. Its not his fault he got to make 100mm, that was on Dolan.

Stat is toast. Soak in wine, find a kibbutz and hit the Hebrew lessons. Play in the Israeli league, I think their season is shorter.
Mentor yoots? in what, the intricasies of matador defense? Stupid tats? The ten best times in the game to dribble the ball off your feet?

Goodbye.

You guys think Amare is that bad and his far from it. I mean we all thought felton was a disaster, in comes calderon and everyone wants him gone quicker then felton.

Stats the best big man on this team, and thats sad in it's self. There's just not a lot of quality bigs in this league any more.I mean Coles and Jason smith, brutal. If your telling me you prefer anyone of those 2 over Amare, well thats just being completely retarded..

Amare as a $3 Million back-up is different than Amare as a $20 Million broken down starter. Reminders mean squat. It's if/how a player will work towards a successful roster.

Agree amare at 3 mill for a 20 min back up is a good deal

Amare will never be content with being a 3mil backup. He has the heart of a superstar with the knees of a 60 year old. In his head he is still young Amare. He is always complaining about not playing enough and always feels phenomenal to play a game when he should be resting. This is the 2nd or 3rd time he said he felt great and then missed extended time after playing. It is time to cut ties with Amare.

this and Im a straight up fan of his. Ive worked through some major sports injuries and live with others. His heart and effort is something to be respected. End of the day this is a results business and its just not there.

I think the reason he finishes the year as a Knick is MSG, Phil, etc recognize and respect this. Just a thought. As a fan it would nice to see the Amare chapter have some kind of happy ending but it just isnt in the card.

Goodbye.

Work ethic, how to survive in NY on 20 mil a year, and maybe teach some things about what he learned. Maybe he regrets not working on his game and relying on his athletic freakness early in his career, also teaching the benefits of keepying his body in shape.

I saw that he was buying into a more defensive mindset this year.

Its about creating an environment of culture. SOme guys like to mentor. Garnett as crazy as he is gets high marks from teamates about how great he is to play with. Plumlee states he has learned alot from him. Fish was never a "Star" but was a great presence. Sometimes its not about the player you were, but the experience you gained.

Amare is adapting. he is no longer a max player and won't command any type of long term money. He knows it. We know it. He had to give it one last try to be an every day player until his body told him otherwise. He has bounced back from every injury thus far.
Ewing had a similar ethic toward rehab. Dude worked his arse off and took care of his body. He was older and developed a far better fundamental skill set than Amare as he lost his athletic gift. Maybe Amare thinks he can reinvent himself and contribute in other ways in smaller amounts.

Or he is delusional.

We know neither.

I think Phil calls himself being slick trying to use

This as a selling point of loyalty, what a joke

Retarded?
1) You're comparing Calderone to what was the worst PG in the league.
2) Newsflash: Cole and Jason Smith are actually playing right now. Stat is the best big man we have in a suit. Unless of course Herb Williams comes back.

Amare needs a penetrating PG. You get him one and his value will go up.

any Knicks fans who actually want to retain Amare, don't really care about winning. At some point, you have to learn to detach yourselves from guys who are holding this franchise hostage. Dolan promised to stay away and allow Phil complete autonomy; if he loves Amare that much, he are to offer him a part ownership of the team instead of offering him a contract to dawn the Knicks uniform for another 4 years.

Come to think about it, Dolan is that stupid, because he kept Houston around for the longest. Houston is still one of his employees.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
