Agreed. Towns gives me the most trepidation out of these top 3 guys. Okafor's the given, then this kid Mudiay is really growing on me. A skilled 6'5" athletic PG is nothing to sneeze at.

Incidentally, what's the deal with Mudiay's ankle injury? Anyone know the severity? Did he wind up making it back? Thought I read he may have been cut by Guangdong to make room for Will Bynum? Is that true?

How? I feel like he played sparingly in China and hasnt been in any action for awhile. The problem with him is there is very little to go on

Agree on Mudiay. It looked like he was three years away from being ready to start last year. It doesn't seem like he's made that much progress in China. He's just as big a question mark as anyone in this draft.

I dont want my coach saying I dont play hard when I only have to play half a game anyway.

Maybe this will lite something underneath him. He needs to play hard and well.

They do have a lot of mismatches. I mean I can see it being hard to stay focused at times. Not a good sign but lets see how he responds

he asked for greater effort, I dont see where he called him soft...he said he was coasting.

The kid scored 7 of Kentucky's first 12 points if the games was the one against Texas A&M. He seemed bored, I watched that game.

Here are Towns 40 minute production

2014-15 Kentucky SEC 15 304 5.9 11.6 .511 5.7 10.8 .524 0.3 0.8 .333 4.6 6.3 .729 13.3 2.0 0.7 4.5 3.2 4.7 16.7
Career Kentucky 15 304 5.9 11.6 .511 5.7 10.8 .524 0.3 0.8 .333 4.6 6.3 .729 13.3 2.0 0.7 4.5 3.2 4.7 16.7

Basically it's 17 points 13 rebounds 4.5 blocks 2 assists. So we have to also look at the true fact that Kentucky's individual numbers are also a bit skewed because there are so many of them. Now hope Towns will now step up and play 27-30 hard minutes and then we start to see serious individual production from him.

He needs to play hard all the time--why exactly would the Knicks invest in a player content with coasting. Does Kobe Bryant coast? Hopefully this lights a fire under his arse--no excuse. You know who coasts guys like Eddy Curry and Tim Thomas--they had a lot of talent too. Playing hard all the time is a skill and character issue.

Oh oh, not a very good sign.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Karl Towns last 5 games---this eeks out cupcake padded stats.

Last 5 23.1 minutes 6.8 points 6.6 rebounds 0 ZERO assists 1.2 blocks 47% shooting

In one of those games against NC he did not even take a shot??

The playing soft and coasting has been a trend.

Towns is legit - he actually played harder/better then any Kentucky player I saw in the Texas a&am game. He played 25 mins - scored 9 points on 5 shots. Had 9 boards and I believe 3 blocks.

It is pretty easy to see that Kentucky does not play a system geared at players putting up big stats. Maybe someone could post all the Kentucky player stats Im willing to guess none look particularly impressive.

Plus if you watch duke play the offense is very spread 4 out and 1 in with HUGE emphasis on pounding the ball inside to Okafor. Kentucky on the other hand almost always has 2 or sometimes 3 players in or around the paint. Plus Kentucky doesn't have a pg - neither of the twins qualify.

Towns is legit and despite the stats Briggs posted for ex. He's a tremendous passer.

Towns Okafor
Pts Per 40 16.7 25.9
RBS Per 40 14.0 12.5
Assts Per 40 2.0 1.8
Blks Per 40 4.5 2.3
Tos Per 40 3.2 3.3

Which player is producing at a higher level in effort stats like Rbs, Blks.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm absolutely in love with Okafor but I will continue to defend Towns because he's legit and well rounded.

Your no kid Briggs you should understand when a coach is just trying to push a kids button -- the only thing Towns can be accused of is being too unselfish and maybe not realizing how talented he is. Sometimes it takes some time to believe you are the man.

These are per stats I just pulled from Draft Express.

They basically support the general consensus on each player - okafor is a STUD scorer --- Towns an all-around big man.

and towns has a better NBA body and can actually shoot the ball.

most good PF's today can shoot the 3 and if they can't its a ding.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Agreed. I got no problem taking either of the 2.

If we don't get the #1 pick we are not getting OK4

I agree with this as well - firmly believe Okafor goes #1.

I was REALLY impressed with Okafor yesterday but at same time anyone putting down Towns skill set, potential and effort are misinformed.

Let's just hope we get a top 2 pick.

Far more times then not, this is a bright red flag and next to that flag, there is a big sign that says "stay away!" You do not want to deal with a kid that has hustle issues with that number 1 pick. We need as close to a sure fire star as we can get. No issues between the ears please.

I think you have to remember that this is a freshman kid on a team that played for a national championship last year. He probably is deferring alot to the older players. I would be more interested in what he looks like at the end of the season. I firmly believe this is just the coach trying to light a fire under the guy. Now we need to see if he responds with improved play. If he does, then that answers all I need to know about the kid. The kid has a world of talent and looks to be a better defender than Okafor.

No player plays hard every single trip up and down the court. i think the term coasting vs loafing is the confusion.

Eddy Curry never coasted, he was too lazy to pace himself.....he loafed, just did the bare minimum to get by.

That's not Towns.
